Re: Mapper227's multi-menu display

The wiki article says "Bit 11 of the address written activates the menu list selection.", but the bitfield shows the "m" bit, described as "Menu list (see below)", as bit 10 rather than 11.

With no public dump of a multi-menu mapper 227 cart available, none of this information can be verified.

Re: Mapper227's multi-menu display

Which Nanjing game use mapper 227? Mei Guo Fu Hao (Waixing) (Ch) [a1].nes That's not a Nanjing game though. It's a Henggedianzi version of a Waixing game. When used for single-game cartridges, it was mostly used by Waixing --- as mapper 242 for 512 KiB games, and mapper 227 for 1 MiB games. There i...

Re: FDS header date fields

You mean the speed measuring is done on the Game Doctor itself?
No, but the program in general uses disk I/O routines from the Game Doctor BIOS, and uses the Game Doctor's additional memory to store the program code along with the full content of an entire disk.

Re: Do colored borders bother you?

I like colored borders if the borders effectively make them a visual continuation of the graphics next to the border. In the SMB2 example, if the border were red, I would actually prefer the red to the black border. Borders in an entirely different color, as in the actual SMB2 title screen, are ugly...

Re: FDS header date fields

Have you added the "disk version" field as well? It's what the wiki erroneously calls the "Price" field. It's listed in the leaked spreadsheet, and No-Intro organizes revisions around it when the "game version" field does not differ between disk versions.

They do indeed. Either I accidently corrupted the ROM before, or you have since uploaded a redump.

Re: NES Maker (for VTxx machines)

I added a NES 2.0 header (Mapper 427, Console Type VT369) to your dump and ran it successfully in NintendulatorNRS. But only the menu and the games from the first 8 MiB half work. I can tell which half is being accessed from looking at the values written to register $4100.

Re: NES Maker (for VTxx machines)

Does game #87 (Pulveration) work? It accesses the second 8 MiB of ROM. If it does, then the ROM is okay and you only have a readout issue. If it does not, then the second half of ROM is really damaged.

Re: NTSC CVSB Question

The NES PPU produces excessive cross-luma artifacts due to its lack of filter on the chrominance component to the standardized bandwidth. NTSC decoders expect no chrominance information above 1 MHz, yet the PPU outputs such. As a result, the chrominance information above 1 MHz is seen as jagged vert...

Yes, most of the Yamaha FM chips have a very brief "data sheet" and a more detailed "application note". The necessary delays are usually only included in the latter.
