Re: cc65 .byte signed/unsigned issue
Thanks for the reply. On further inspection, it was my mistake; it was actually a branch statement that was attempting to branch 140 bytes ahead. It so happens that statement is on line 1200 in "main.asm", and there is a ".byte 140" on that same line in "main1.asm", so ...

cc65 .byte signed/unsigned issue
So it's possible this question has been answered before and I just didn't search well enough, in which case I apologize. I am working on porting source code that was written for some mystery toolset in the early 90's to cc65, and am encountering an obnoxious issue, to which I hope there is an elegan...

Re: Cashless society disadvantages
No, it's not about effort, it's about enjoyment. A lot of us have hobbies that take a lot of effort and are a net loss, but provide enjoyment. I happily work on homebrew that makes me only a tiny percentage of what my other contract work pays, and is the same amount of effort. I think he meant unde...

Re: Cashless society disadvantages
Well, even if you could play a game with positive return (something I'm extremely dubious/suspectful of), it only makes sense if the ratio between income per hour and effort you have to make is higher than working. Hence why I haven't pursued this. Most machines that yield a positive return are low...

Re: Cashless society disadvantages
Really? Which ones? What casino gives the player the edge? It's not a casino that gives the player the edge, it's specific games, which are pretty hard to find these days. Certain variations of video poker yield a positive ROI when played with the perfect strategy, but you pretty much have to be a ...

Re: Cashless society disadvantages
Well I don't know but I find it ridiculous to think that if you weren't gambing you'd be automatically be drinking, smoking or something else. This is just not true. And there's plenty of people who are gambling, drinking and smoking. And we have to feed those idiots with our taxes. True, you do no...

Re: Cashless society disadvantages
Wow this is awful Celius ! This is basically, mathematically speaking throwing your money out of the window. You're a good guy, you should stop gampling ASAP. LOL, I appreciate your concern. We all have our vices. Gambling is my vice, rather than drinking or smoking. I am pretty good at math, so I ...

Re: Cashless society disadvantages
A cashless society will likely be a very tough adjustment for people who are in difficult financial situations. When everything is cashless, everything is tracked, and you cannot hide. People in financial predicaments count on being able to hide, at least a little. In the US, if a creditor has a jud...

Re: How to draw ice?
Not sure if it would make sense in the environment, but the Oracle of Seasons example gave me this idea. What if you had something that was obviously water in or around the environment so that the player would know what water looks like vs. ice? I'm sure this would make a lot of artists cringe, but ...

Re: Fun with strange bugs!
I can tell you that I'm way too obsessed about coding mistakes to just roll back and carry on when something seemingly unrelated breaks! Whenever that happens to me, I spend as much time as it takes to figure out *exactly* what went wrong, otherwise something even more sinister may end up happening...

Re: Hypothetical: Your Dream IP to license
I always wanted to make another Final Fantasy game for the NES. I had a thought that it would be fun to create a new NES Final Fantasy called Final Fantasy π , as a way to escape the numbering system, but also as a way of saying "somewhere between 3 and 4", at least in terms of quality of ...

Re: Programming is a weird hobby
I rarely find myself stressed when programming. The only time I find myself stressed is during some sort of systems crisis at work where something is broken, I don't know why, and I need to fix it so business can continue. Or if there is some sort of deadline and I'm encountering a ton of obstacles....

Re: Why "logic" is bullshit (RANT)
That's another thing that bothers me. I hate coming across as a know-it-all if experts in a field want me to believe something that doesn't add up, or sounds politically biased. If I find just one flaw in somebody's logic, people might think I'm a jerk who thinks he's smarter than everyone else, an...
