Re: Project Nested - NES emulator for SNES

Hey Myself086, do you think that compilating a document with the crash errors of each game and details of configuration would help you? At least of the ones that crashes to Blue Screen? The spreadsheet already has that. It has just enough information to give me some clues as to what might have gone...

Re: Project Nested - NES emulator for SNES

How about fixing these bugs I discovered: Thanks for letting me know which games you want to see on this emulator. Please be patient as this project is at least 10x more difficult than making a NES emulator for PC. Ufouria, Kirby's Adventure and Bomberman were already games that I want to emulate. ...

Re: find equivalent of SN74LS161 DIP16 => to SOIC16

Thanks for answer, I use DIP16 "LS" chip to do Flip-Flop multirom counter. What do you think, will it works with "HC" ? When I order my pcb I can not find 74LS161 SOIC16 chip with assembled service. Only HC is available. It really depends on what you're doing, specifically what kind of inputs and o...

Re: find equivalent of SN74LS161 DIP16 => to SOIC16

Hi, I'am looking for to remplace my 4bit counter chip SN74 LS 161 (dip one) by SOIC one. Can someone help me to find equivalent, please. Exactly with " LS " I can not find it with assembly PCB service. But 74 HC 161D, yes. Will it be exactly the same? Thank you The LS and HC tell the tecnology used...

Re: Open Hardware SNES Repro PCB with FeRAM support

Is feram still as expensive as it used to be, many times the price of sram+battery? Well, i don't know if its as expensive as it used to be, I got the chips for like 8 dolars for 5 chips. It was a personal choice for me because I really have some bad experiences with batteries lol. But this can be ...

Open Hardware SNES Repro PCB with FeRAM support

Hello, In the same vein that I shared my open hardware Genesis repro PCB, I am now sharing my SNES Repro PCB with the community. It is an open hardware project and everyone is welcome to modify and study it as needed. I've tested it extensively in the last months and I think that most bugs, especial...

Re: Sharing my project: A Sega Genesis Cartridge PCB with FeRAM support

If the FeRam uses the falling edge of /CE to write data. How does this work if (assuming) the Genesis with sram operates on a rising edge? or do I not understand how the Genesis triggers the RAM? Interesting question, i based my design in an old forum post from TmEE: https://forums.nesdev.com/viewt...

Sharing my project: A Sega Genesis Cartridge PCB with FeRAM support

Hello, Its been some time since i've wanted to do this, but was unsure if posting Sega stuff in NesDev would be acceptable. I've talked to B00daW about it and he said that it would not be a problem. This is already posted in Racketboy and i though that it would be fair to share here as much of the i...

Re: Project Nested - NES emulator for SNES

As always, amazing project! Are you updating the compatibility list on your own? I've tested several games and found one or two that worked and aren't on the list, i would be happy to help if you want. Also, found some blue screens and some that says to report them, would you like them to be reporte...

Re: Safe level shifting for SNES cartridges

Out of curiosity, why not just use a level shifting IC? I know the 74 logic and resistors are very cheap, but wouldn't you need 46 resistors to cover all of the address lines? A level shifting IC would cost about the same, I think. And like lidnariq said, it would definitely be easier to route for ...

Re: Safe level shifting for SNES cartridges

As for the data bus, which in the SNES case just output data, i thought about using a simple 74HC245 bus transceiver shift the 3.3V signals to 5V. This transceiver has 8 lines which is suficient to SNES data bus. Be careful that you use the correct part to use the correct part to up-translate. The ...

Safe level shifting for SNES cartridges

Hello, It's been some time that i've made another topic here and was told that, although 3.3V MX29 series chips work with the 5V SNES I/O in short-term, this can cause damage both to chip (which is quite obvious) and SNES (not so obvious) in the long run. Since then i've been thinking and researchin...

Re: Help - Game froze during save on SNES console, fine on Super NT

Problem Game ran fine on original hardware and Super NT when I tested it. I went to save on an original SNES and it froze. Game would not load on SNES after that, just black screen. I then tried the cart on a Suprt NT without any problems. It even had my save file (that caused the freezing) in the ...

Re: Project Nested - NES emulator for SNES

Has the emulator been tested on a "plain" flash cart yet? I noticed in HIGAN there's usually not much showing up on screen (though the games are running), that makes me wonder if there's some missing S-PPU initialization. By plain I mean just a ROM chip, as the SD2SNES, PowerPak etc, menus won't be...
