How is the fake parralax effect in Toy Story done?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUTOm6HMOPU You can see that there are a lot more layers than usually scrolling there. I turned the layers off and it's just layer 2. Usually, fake parralax could be done by scrolling tiles. But it was only a simple tiled pattern there. This looks like a fully scrolli...

How does Umihara Kawase fake transparency?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDt4ulUnBrc So on this game, you can see that the game has line transparency similar to the Sonic mega drive water. It's not transparency so it must be HDMA color shifting like on Mega Drive. No. It's not any layer (the layer 3 is the water tile above the line scroll)...

What is the point of the pseudo hi-res mode?

Some games like Kirby Dreamland 3 use a psuedo hi res mode that makes the dithering on the layer high resolution to fake transparency. But why do this if the SNES has real transparency?

Why did official SA1 games use no features of the chip?

Most of the officialy released SNES games with SA1 show no diffence compared to games with no chip. On fan hacks on the other hand, they show sprite rotation and remove slowdown. But in the Parodius games, there's still slowdown. But a single person can fix a game's slowdown. Why was this?

How does Tales of Phantasia and Star Ocean scale sprites on stock hardware?

These games, Tales of Phantasia and Star Ocean have sprite scaling. You see in when you get gold and items, in Star Ocean and the characters sometimes scale in both games. How is this done?

Can layer 1 and 2 display 2bpp graphics?

In Super Mario World you see a lot of tiles using 2 or 3 colors when they could have easily used more. On the hill background, there is a lot of dithering and the only time more than 3 colors are displayed are when there is a back hill behind the front hill. The star and moon collectible display onl...

Could the Super FX 1 Chip Scale sprites?

So if you look at most Super Fx games you'll see that both the polygons and what look like sprites are combined into one layer. Yoshi's Island breaks this and does it like a normal game with sprite scaling. Could the first Super FX also do this or was this something new added for Super FX 2? And whe...

Why were there only 2 48Mbits games?

Companies like Nintendo and Square could easily afford 48Mbits to add more to their game, even some SMW hacks max out at 32Mbits for some reason.
And why do a lot of games do more things with less Mbits? Gradius III, Super Turrican and Mario Kart are 4mbits, but games like Tetris+Dr Mario need 8mbits?

How does Mario Paint draw graphics that are not stored in the ROM?

Normally all the graphics of SNES games are stored in the ROM. But Mario Paint can draw and generate anything you want at a quick speed. How is this done and could this be used for displaying unlimited amount of images in games?

How is the death effect is SNES final fantasy games done?

In the Final Fantasy SNES games, when a enemy dies it has a death animation where certain pixels cut. I know all the SNES features, but none allows for removing random pixels of layers, HDMA only allows removing vertical lines. How is this done?
