Re: Weird PPU writes
I expanded the search a little bit. 1450 of 2650 ROMs matched a test where the first two bytes could be different; 1350 matched the exact thing. https://mini.xkeeper.net/etc/weird-pals.txt Nintendo also came up with a different way of doing it later on: Other games may have different methods that ar...

Re: Weird PPU writes
hey thread! fancy seeing you here i bumbled across another game that does this (TMNT 1) and got curious once i heard about the mystery. i did a simple scan for this sequence of bytes: A9 3F 8D 06 20 A9 00 8D 06 20 8D 06 20 8D 06 20 I compiled the list here (note that the bytes in the header are wron...

Re: FDS and $4018/$4019/$401E
FDS.
The code is here -- look for byte_4018. This was a segment of the Air Fortress FDS prototype we dumped a while ago that occupies the program space from $C300~$CFFF (some of it has been lost).

FDS and $4018/$4019/$401E
This is a little strange to ask, but is there any known hardware or method to communicate with a device listening on these addresses? Specifically: - Writes to $401E - either #$40 (reading) or #$00 (after read) - Reads from $4019 - seems to be some sort of status register where the top two bits are ...

I'm still waiting to hear back about the actual site data.

Re: Looks like NESCartDB is down (again)...
In #nesdev on EFnet, tehcloud mentioned nesdir.github.io ( source ), which uses the last NesCartDB XML as its data source, as a stopgap until NesCartDB can get rehosted. If this database is brought under the umbrella of TCRF, how would outages (if any) be reported? same place tcrf ones are: discord...

running and refurbishing old php stuff is exactly what i do and i'd be more than happy to take whatever 'turd' you think you have and host it. a few people can probably vouch for my ability to do this as well

I would like to make an addendum to my previous posts and say that if I get a tar.gz of the site's files and database, I can have a copy of this thing running in no time flat, for free, for a long time. (We are paid up on hosting bills for a long time and have funds in our account that will last lon...

...to add something since there seems to be a lot of discussion elsewhere of how to move things: - a tarball of the site files. (This is easy enough if it's stored sanely.) - mysqldump of databases (compressed) From there it's just extracting and changing the auth information and possibly the root p...

I'm still offering to host it on my DreamHost account (for free*). I've been using it for about 4 years for various projects (including very high-bandwidth areas) and... no real issues. (This offer sort of extends to a few other parodius things depending. Things like sl1me/blargg's domain, etc. I ha...

Let me be the first to outright state that any solution that does not satisfy the condition that the current forum must remain as live as it is now is no solution at all. Having had to re-start sites (even with archives...) is a massive pain and means that any time someone wants to reference that ol...

TCRF only successfully loads about 45% of the time, no hosting from their host, please. This is still an issue on your end. While the site is slow for others (what do you expect? It kind of outgrew the original space...) it doesn't have nearly the kind of issues that you have. ... But to expand on ...
