Some games have more than "interesting" behaviour if conflicting directions are pressed. Commando crashes if left and right are pressed simultaneously.

Wow... That's super retarded. An emulator should be able to assume that the ROM given isn't corrupted, and not have to go the extra mile to see if it is. Should be. In practice, a lot of ROM images in the wild have trash in the reserved bytes. Adding a check for known corruptions greatly improves t...

Both problems should be fixed now. Download it and give it a try. I changed the macro syntax to be less ambiguous (no parentheses around arg list, and args must be comma separated). Loopy, any reason you haven't integrated the ASM6 changes for other architectures (e.g. Mac) that someone posted a co...

Parpunk, i rebuilt cajoNES with Visual Studio 2008, and fixed some really small filename buffers. You can download it here.
Can you let me know if this works for you?

Petruza, i think you're doing some good work here. A simple CRT for NES is a solid idea! I'm wondering why you think it's really necessary to recode everything in ASM. To be honest, the basic hardware setup and status reads done in the library aren't going to benefit orders of magnitude from ASM opt...

I used RGBASM for several commercial titles. While the syntax is kind of wacky, as many have noted, it was *way* more stable and had more features than the official assemblers from Nintendo.

Tell me about it! I wish i had a copy of the old source to cajoNES just for that, but alas, it was lost when my machine was stolen back in 1998 or so. :(
My software hasn't been hanging nearly as low since then.

Are you asking someone to fix the NSF? That seems simple to do... remove the code.
Or are you asking about how to mask the writes? Simply... ignore writes to PPU registers when you are playing an NSF.

You'll want to allocate 0x10000 bytes, also.

Before pocket audio players became common, a lot of car stereos and personal stereos had no input jack. One had to stick a cassette-shaped adapter into the tape deck if it had one of those. My car is a '96 and the (stock) stereo has an AUX input jack. Which i find amusing, because it has a cassette...

One of my favorite IDM/breakcore/glitch DJs, Venetian Snares, has a great track on his album "Cavalcade of Glee and Dadaist Happy Hardcore Pom Poms" called 'Pwntendo.' There's a fanvid of it on youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faazC3H_GO8 I don't know his process, but from reading up on ...

ARGH. I hate adding to the inferno. But seriously, how long is this going to continue? It's hard to lurk with this bullshit. Don't-be-a-dick is being flagrantly violated. We're driving off interested readers because of some belief that we have to uphold letter-of-law ideals? This is spirit-of-law we...
