Can you post your code? Or at least the portion that generates the .NES file header?

Re: Minecraft Clone on the NES

My 2 cents, you can fit a 30x256 map neatly into the 8KB WRAM and still have 512 (non-continuous) bytes for misc. save storage. Plus you could use the SMB3 "fake four-way" if you're into that sort of thing.

Wow, this looks great! And it's a very interesting way to get your feet wet with NES development. Great work!

Re: What code editor do you use?

Vscode with a vim plugin. It's the best of both worlds 😁

Re: Music composer (collaboration on homebrews wanted)

FamiTone 2 can use FamiTracker files with some limitations on the instruments. But I'm down to use whatever library and tools you are comfortable with. If it happens to be something with a very low ROM footprint that would be preferable, but not a deal-breaker. Right now I just have the basic runnin...

Re: Music composer (collaboration on homebrews wanted)

I am working on a small platformer hoping to enter it as a 16KiB ROM in the next homebrew competition. I'll be looking for someone to work with on the music and sound. How do you feel about using a music engine with less features, like FamiTone 2?

I think this looks really fun! I love rogue likes, especially the rare tactical ones. I would love to try the demo when it's ready.

Re: Start developing a game and don't sink into engine desig

I could have said more :) I am on my phone so it's hard. When prototyping use the fastest thing that answers the questions you have. A lot of times drawing what you are thinking about is the fastest and easiest. Even if it's all straight lines and stock figures. That's what I start with :)

I like to start with a 12 pack of colored pencils and a graphing notebook.

Re: collision collide

This should be in the nesdev section i think.

This is a big topic. You can get by with simple rectangle intersection but it costs cpu. Basically you figure out the tiles your character occupies, the inspect your map data to see if those tiles are blocking.

Re: uc65, a Mid-Level Language Compiler READY FOR USE!

You mean like keywords that push and pop variables? That shouldn't be too hard.

I've been sick sooo dang much recently I'm... well... sick of it :D But once work is caught up I'll start working on this again. Just let me know your priorities.

INL,

I will try to look into this as soon as I can. Can you help me understand if the table issue is a higher priority for you than the import issue?

Just making sure I understood what was being offered. The ability to provide save games in flash on a discrete board is pretty awesome :D
