Re: game news: You'll be able to visit my town in the future

Kind of unrelated to the general topic itself.. I have never been to Göteborg before, but I'll get to go there together with the company I'm working for a weekend early this May. My wife and her parents spent a couple of days there six years ago and quite enjoyed their visit. I love Swedes in genera...

Re: Swedish language games on NES

A friend and I rented Shadowgate several times back when we were approx. 11 or 12 years old. This happened to be the Swedish version of the game; I never noticed there being an English language version of this game in Norway, if at all. With the exception of a relatively few words (can't remember wh...

Re: Self-made misconceptions that you believed about games

As a 7-8 year old kid at the time, I thought that the military captives one get to see right before and after a stage in Green Beret, actually were enslaved women who were forced to sit down knitting or something like that. An abuse of women, I found it to be. I couldn't read English at the time, an...

Re: Any tips for learning Japanese?

I think that the value of meaningful input should never be underestimated. Getting a somewhat solid grip of the basic grammar together with a varied amount of everyday vocabulary early on makes picking up and understanding the language quite a bit easier rather than off the bat focusing too much on ...

Re: Funny TV Advert

Yes. I don't have any noteworthy difficulties with them neither written or orally, spare for the Copenhagen dialect which can be a tad bit frustrating to understand if spoken quickly.

Re: Funny TV Advert

I quite like the Cockney dialect, really. Despite it being rather low-ish in comparison to many other English dialects, I really do enjoy the way how many comedians utilise it, e.g. The Mighty Boosh.

Re: "Over Horizon" PAL version only in Germany?

And I know Gimmick ! is Sweden only so it's possible that Over Horizon is Germany only. However I think other european countries probably managed to get the German version anyways. Gimmick! was released in Norway as well. I'm not sure, but I suspect that it might also have been sold in Denmark and ...

Re: Confusing kanas

English is at least as bad. It started out like Dutch and then absorbed half of French after the Norman invasion, and it picked up a lot of scientific and religious words from Latin and Greek later. You're absolutely right. There are also a good bunch of Scandinavian words in there as well, actuall...

Re: Confusing kanas

It still takes me a much larger effort than it takes to read normal alphabet : it takes about 3 secs to decode each kana, and if I see a text with kana I have to think "ok I'll have to start reading this", while if I have a text with normal alphabet I read it automatically without even thinking abo...

Just watched these two videos of yours. Quite good!

I have always struggled terribly obtaining the secret item on stage 2 in Mr. Gimmick. I'm looking forward to try it again using that trick of yours. :-)

My thoughts exactly.

The unknown, unknown as it may be, is news to someone who didn't know.
