Re: PCM Drum machine / sampler

This is something that's been in the back of my mind for a while... still need to work on the interface but the proof of concept is working! I've got timing linked to NMI so that samples can be pitched via variable sample rate. I'm using a " clockslide " to create variable sample rates, which is som...

Re: Is $4011's default value $00 at start up?

Oddly, SMB does something like that, too. It ramps it up to $30 when you're playing, then ramps it down to $00 when you die. But why, it's a mystery. yeah, that's the game I'm adding the sounds too :D (turn on audio).. that's an old version with the pops I was mentioning. SMB only ramps up while ma...

Re: Is $4011's default value $00 at start up?

I can live with the pop at start up but the code I'm adding these samples later sets 4011 back to 00 to use the volume control that you mentioned. I never heard it pop at start up until I added my code. I think I might try out the ramping in and out thing, I don't think it should be audible if it's ...

Is $4011's default value $00 at start up?

I'm working on some code which streams PCM audio to 4011.. with 7 bit pcm data, the value of $40 represents the middle of the waveform and is "silence".. but I notice in emulators that I'm getting a "pop" in my initialization code when I set 4011 to $40 before I play the samples. I'm not sure if thi...

Re: Is $08 "brown" or "olive" ? Why does it vary so much from screen to screen?

I noticed Nintendo released Super Mario Bros 35 the other day.. they clearly have decided than $22 is officially that weird purplish color.. it's interesting if you look at SMB hack screen shots over time, more recent hacks tend to use the purple color but older ones are a range of blue shades. Kind...

Re: Is $08 "brown" or "olive" ? Why does it vary so much from screen to screen?

It seems like even various NTSC filters can't agree on this color.. in Mesen if you choose Blargg's NTSC filter, you will get more olive tones, while Bisqwit's is definitely brown. I feel like Bisqwit's is closer to my TV though the composite effect is really heavy handed. I went through various col...

MMC1 acting differently on PowerPak vs Emulator, not always bankswitching

I have a rom which implements "animation" by flipping the CHR bank every few frames. There are 8 banks of CHR (4 pairs of background and sprite data) This has been working fine for a long time. I recently added an additional two banks of CHR onto this rom to add an intro. On multiple emulators every...

Re: Trying to save with MMC1 and FCEUX

If FCEUX is your main emulator, might be worth pointing out that it also has an iNES header editor at this point. It's in the debug menu. (It's not in the 2.2.3 official release, but the interim build here has it.) thanks I'll check it out.. also just subbed to your you tube channel last night, I r...

And you're gonna have issues from CRT to CRT (not just red-push or not, but how people have settings adjusted). And there's still the same issue on LCD to LCD. Depending on the color, it could have issues there as well (PC-Engine 9bit color palette has a few problem colors like this, even on LCDs)....

Maybe try Mesen's or Nintendulator's header editor?
thanks I used Nintendolators editor and realized I was looking at the wrong byte in the header    I knew it was something simple
