Re: iNES, PAL and Nestopia

I've tried before on other issues but he tends to be (for me anyway) unresponsive.

I've even tried trawling the code myself but, frankly, life is too short :D

Re: iNES, PAL and Nestopia

Hmmm, that's yet another option that has been left out of the OS X version.

iNES, PAL and Nestopia

Looking at the iNES 2.0 header specifications, the two bytes of the header (10th and 11th) that are related to the TV system don't seem to work properly with Nestopia. If I change the 10th byte to '01' (bit 0 is supposedly the PAL/NTSC flag) then Nestopia thinks the ROM is corrupt and won't load it....

Re: blargg.parodius.com -> slack.net/~ant/old

I have spare hosting capacity if you need a new web home. I use a paid service so no ads etc.

(edited: in case it wasn't clear, I wouldn't charge for the hosting, it would be free :) )

Re: Get rid of vibrato clicking (pop) in ppmck / mml SM

Surprised Famitracker hasn't got a fix for this yet?

It's been pretty well documented (thanks to blargg who discovered the trick) on here and reasonably straightforward to implement.

Re: Dead NES?

Thanks for the replies!

As far as I know, nothing is overheating but ill take the case off and check later.

I'm pretty sure the cart connector is quite new (well, only 3-4 years) but ill give it a clean.

Dead NES?

My NES (NTSC) doesn't seem to want to turn on any more, I just get a white (or possibly very light grey) screen. Trying to boot up my PowerPak which, until very recently, was working fine.

Any ideas?

Controller Recording

Has anyone implemented a controller record-and-playback routine? What approach did you take? Sampled at 60FPS that would take a lot of data. My idea was to have an algorithm that consisted of (16-bit) delta times between different states of the controller. I suppose another way would be to RLE the p...

Re: Music/Video: Three Cowards

As I mentioned (though perhaps somewhere else!), I've released the ROM that I created specifically to make that track. It was a one-take 'jam' using the ROM and my NES connected to a compressor and reverb.

Music/Video: Three Cowards

New release from me: Three Fucking Cowards https://vimeo.com/45859072 http://soundcloud.com/neilbaldwin/three-fucking-cowards Recorded straight out of my NES with a touch of compression and a a little (too much) reverb. Video simultaneously captured out of the NES too with a little post-filtering vi...

Nick asked me for some help with writing code to read the keyboard. I tried to have a go based on info from the wiki etc. but I cannot test it myself as I don't have the ability to hook my keyboard up to my NES (yet). Thought I'd post it here as someone might be able to check the code so we can get ...

I use CA65 on OSX and, internet speeds aside (ahem), it's pretty straightforward to build using GCC (as part of Xcode).

I do have to run Parallels Desktop (though I'm sure the alternatives like Wine do just as good a job) for the graphics side of things so that I can use Shiru's excellent NESst.

I thought you were onto something there but amazingly when I tried to run Fink it says "Error: you must reinstall Xcode from your Developer Disk or go to http://connect.apple.com" Found Xcode 4 at that URL eventually but it's 2.9GB LOL :( I'm trying 'port' now too but that's failing. I'm starting to...
