Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

Hello all! Yes, I'm still alive. :) Actually...maybe too alive... The popularity of my work on the SNES has had the unintended and totally unexpected consequence of generating more contracting requests for my embedded system consulting business. We were already overloaded with requests but I've been...

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

You were looking to get paid for all your work on this (and I am NOT saying you shouldn't be), but now that Kevin is releasing his via a system that basically cost about $200 delivered, I'm not sure I see a way for you to make your time in "money" back on this. So, that being said, what is your pla...

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

Is there any update to this project? I'm curious what you're planning to do now that Kevin's system is coming out. Hi! Kevin's system has no bearing on my plans. You might want to read back on the thread a bit. When I'm ready I'll be starting a crowdfunding campaign to get the entire SNES open sour...

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

what say ye about helping ikari implementing SuperFX and SA-1 on the SD2SNES? Would love to. I think it makes a lot of sense, most especially if the VeriSNES is open-sourced. Sorry about hijacking. I don't think asking about other potential applications for the VeriSNES on the VeriSNES thread is hi...

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

I'm sure you will do fine and have the communities support. Especially after all the hard work you did. It is quite an accomplishment. Thanks for the support! Like I said, since I already knew about it nothing has changed for me. I'm just gonna keep on doing what I do! I'm happy for Kevin, he's awe...

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

I was already aware about 9mo or so ago that kevtris was working on FPGA SNES. I had inside knowledge from Taber at Analogue but I told him I would keep it secret. However, even having that knowledge I kind of always thought it should have been obvious what he was working on - I mean what else would...

SD card interface is already working. So you're welcome. ;)

Here are some pics of me playing VeriSNES on my 70” TV. My TV only supports 720p and 1080i – no 1080p. :-/

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

Great new video, the core is looking extremely promising. One minor issue deals with the "guards chase you" sound effect in Zelda, your FPGA's output is noticeably more metallic than the real SNES. It is as if there is a low-pass filter that may not be applied. So I briefly looked into this and I r...

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

Sorry byuu, I totally missed this reply of yours somehow... It's not even that I'd release them, it's that the corrected emulation would appear in higan, and some hypothetical company could use that information I guess? That's correct. I'd have no problem trusting you not to release them but since y...

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

This didn't stop a company from selling my emulator... <break> Yeah, I can name about a half dozen instances where their license was ignored. Yep, nobody cares about license/rules. It's the wild west. People just take whatever they want. Would you be interested in selling the test ROMs you've made ...

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

To answer the question about licensing, might I recommend... Thanks a lot for this info. I'll look more into the links you provided. As for stopping Chinese clones? Sadly, I don't think that's possible Who said anything about stopping them? They certainly can't be stopped - that's what I'm saying. ...
