Re: Can an NSF be inserted into a ROM?
This is possible, under certain conditions relating to file / bank sizes, and memory addresses used by the host game and the nsf (if not from the same game). If it's from the same game, it should just be a matter of copy and pasting certain sections of the edited file into the rom file where the dat...

Re: Rollie (Live on Kickstarter NOW)
Thank you!
Finishing a game is tough, so it's good to know people appreciate it!

Re: Rollie
I am delaying the Kickstarter to mid-August.
I have estimated that I am not going to be able to pull off all of the work that is going into the launch.

Re: Rollie
At the end of each stage is a miniboss battle. Kickstarter will be primarily for physical cartridges, but also doing some digital releases. Nothing too specific at the moment.

Re: Rollie
Hi, thanks! I remember you, Project Blue.
I still need to try that out. It looks like the type of game I always wanted to make as a kid.

Re: Micro Mages (on Kickstarter)
Congratulations! Astounding and remarkable campaign, absolutely inspiring more than you might know. Honestly, 2, 3, and 4 together are likely the magic combination for a big NES KS success. Absolutely. I couldn't have summed this up better. And thank you for doing it. It's points #2 and #4 especiall...

Re: OptoSound (NES Music Engine)
It's good input, thank you. Sometimes I forget that most composers don't write by hand when I've been doing it for such a long time.

Re: OptoSound (NES Music Engine)
Thank you for responding. I haven't made the source code available yet. As I said it is not well organized, and I'm not assured that it is totally stable until I produce some full length music tracks and integrate it into a homebrew game. I plan on doing this within the next couple of weeks. It prob...

OptoSound (NES Music Engine)
I have completed the groundwork for an NES sound engine. I coded it in ASM6 with the WUDSN IDE plugin for Eclipse. The source code isn't amazingly organized yet, but I'd be open to sharing it with others eventually so that it can be used in other homebrew games. I mainly made it so I could have full...

Re: Castlevania crash in PRG1(!) version
Castlevania would crash on me if I had the potion invincibility item and going through a door at the same time. This most frequently happened in the door before Frankenstein, probably because that item drops there. If you timed it right the game consistently locks up while you are going through one ...

Ok, I got Contra done. It was a little bit harder to do It's interesting to see other names around here I recognize like dwedit and Memblers. Maybe I should look around some more? The gets small quickly, doesn't it? The easiest way I've found to silence the music is to just overwrite the music poin...

Nice to meet you all, and a couple of you, nice to see you again. The number #1 reason to make games is self enjoyment, absolutely right. I always like the idea of making NES games with a high degree of passion and indulgence. A big issue seems to keep oneself motivated to make the game and stay foc...

Convince me that making NES games is a good idea.
I have a history when it comes to programming and designing NES games, but mainly as a hacker, and I have considered homebrewing from time to time. I think as long as classic gaming exists people will play classic games. I have a strong and passionate urge and considerable to create NES games, but I...
