Re: FCEUX crashes when I close a ROM

FCEUX has always crashed on me when trying to use the NTSC filter, unless I disable hardware acceleration.

Random garbage leftover in RAM when they assembled it maybe?

As far as I'm aware, they're entirely legal in the US. Other countries, couldn't say.

Re: Are mobile apps a scam?

If you claim that the business model of certain freemium games is unethical, then how should a game studio keep a roof over its employees' and/or contractors' heads? That's a great clip, and true (about levels being literally impossible to beat until you've played it X many times)... I was talking ...

Re: Has anyone downloaded an App with the Windows 10 store?

Once upon a time I owned a Windows phone, and bought a game on it. Being a "universal app", I decided to install it on my desktop. It was a nightmare. Windows store was terribly organized, painfully unintuitive, and horribly buggy--once the game was installed, every time I tried to update it (you wo...

Re: Did nintendo download a rom and sell it back to consumer

The legality of Nintendo downloading and reselling their own ROM seems like a minor concern and lesser point to me, and unfortunately it's ultimately a distraction. Nintendo was prompted by, and somewhat leveraged, the existing emulation scene, turning it into a source of profit. Even that isn't wro...

Re: ROM hacks now in Nintendo's crosshairs

C&D's on ROM hacks and fan games are nothing new and have never been frequent. Every time it happens, everyone acts like it's some kind of game changer. Worst case, they crack down, lose good will, and those still interested in hacking their games adapt their approach: fly under the radar until a pr...

Re: Are mobile apps a scam?

To date, I haven't spent more than ten dollars buying mobile games. I bought a roguelike for a couple of dollars and something else at some point, can't remember specifically what. Even when I'm tempted, I hesitate because either I have little confidence that a game won't turn out to be worthless sh...

At some point it becomes less effort to try it and see how well it can be made to work than argue it to death.

Re: New game by Sunsoft: BLASTER MASTER ZERO discussion

To be honnest, if you ignore the great soundtrack, the original NES Blaster Master isn't really that good. Everyone has their own opinion. I think the controls were solid, the graphics were good even if you don't take NES limitations into account (and quite impressive if you do), the levels were a ...

There hasn't been a decent Blaster Master game since the original. Those screenshots certainly show some promise, though.

Re: Nesdev.com funding

Note that this is because one particular campain has just been made to gather donations, and that there was no precedent on this. This probably won't work as well the next time, where people could say "I already donated" or whathever. Based on my experience with a few other sites, raising funds ann...
