Announcing username replacement

Due to a problem that occurred on Wikipedia, I have decided to change the username that I am using on all of the recreational websites that I frequently access. Barring unforeseen technical issues, my new username will be 85cocoa . (I came up with the idea because of this chocolate product .) I will...

Instead of extending the reserved bits, I think it'd be better for authors to agree upon new mapper numbers. Perhaps duplicates and useless mappers could be the first to be replaced. That would create incompatibilities between iNES header revisions. Besides, 256 possibilities can be too little. IMO...

[OT-1] Unlike ZSNES, bsnes is proprietary software. It's the same reason people still use Sendmail and Postfix: even if qmail is higher quality software, they object to qmail's license , which resembles that of bsnes. To many users, proprietary software has zero quality, solely by virtue of its bein...

So it seems that the Great Firewall has no problems with RapidShare...? :)

Oh BTW, the non-RapidShare link seems to be working for me now.

There is a long official list of licenced NES games in america, but I found none for Europe or Japan... Japan might be tough, but I know of the following lists for Europe: this one at The Warp Zone and the one at GameFAQs . Neither is totally complete, and the one from GameFAQs seems to be better. ...

Don't worry - no games are known to actually rely on that sort of behavior. Really? Mapper 4. Now defaulting to MMC3B IRQ hardware. Fixes "Star Trek - 25th Anniversary". 004 mapper - (Nestopia) forced to MMC3 RevB board IRQ, fixes map mode "My Life My Love - Boku no Yume - Watashi no...

Um... is another apology in order? I was really thinking more about the "Spread Firefox" aspect (specifically this ) than I was about rationally explaining the situation with WhatPulse itself. I was trying too hard to kill two birds with one stone (making a dent in the unpopularity of What...

Distributed Non-Computing

For those of you who want to support a cause without killing your laptop's fan/CPU by doing real distributed computing, or for those of you who are just curious how much mileage you're putting on that keyboard, try WhatPulse , which counts your keystrokes and mouse clicks. A couple of amendments I w...

Help: What is the correct iNES header to tack onto "super-bros-8-vrc2.rom" (or whatever the non-mapper-33-hacked file is called)? I can figure out the PRG/CHR sizes by looking at the sizes of the .prg/.chr files, but to make a correct iNES header I would need to know exactly what version ...

Now that the discussion about FFE has been split, I would like to add one more issue: I would like someone to investigate what this translation's documentation says about mapper 78. Specifically, the documentation says this (emphasis mine): ...Because all this compression was already in place, there...
