Re: Magickid Goo Goo / Mapper 190

i have mapper hacks for this for both mmc3 and sunsoft4. they are for the most part working but i don't remember if i ever finished them. my pc crashed and i lost my working files for them, so i only have the patched roms i had on a powerpak card. anyway i think both are doable. mmc3 i might have ha...

Re: Some pipes lead to weird non-rooms in Super Mario Bros.

Smb has some level data stored in chr iirc. Do you have chr data streaming working? I dont know where in the game that actually happens.

Re: Playing Nekketsu Games with the Four Score adapter.

i did the dodgeball 4p hack (the controller part, i borrowed the menu fix). that patch is available here if you need it http://retro.angelfire.com/kingmercury/ (use an ad blocker) there are 2 controller routines in dodgeball, more or less 1 for gameplay and 1 for menus. it's pretty well organized. t...

Re: MMC1 SNROM help

if the instructions don't call out a pin it generally goes to whatever hole its over.

another tip is don't run wires over the top of the chip, there's basically no clearance between the chip top and the shell.

Are you taking mmc3 variant behavior into account? Search the forum for that incredible crash test dummies thread from not too long ago. I believe the mickey game was highlighted in there too.

Re: how to remove dip chip perfectly?

Hakko guns are the best. If you're using it heavily it's worth the investment.

The pencil style desoldering irons work but burn up tips like crazy. Also clumsy to use.

Nothing else is worth mentioning.

Kevtris' writeup mentions the cic reset line is connected to something else on the board, what's going on with that?

Re: Need help dumping Cheetahmen: The Creation

i'm sure i'm not the first one to dump it, but modern ip doesn't generally get spread around too much. in this case it's a cash grab release that afaik and based on the 2 minutes i spent playing it is absolutely terrible. it's a novelty more than anything. did you just buy this with the intention of...

Re: Need help dumping Cheetahmen: The Creation

Retrousb had a batch of copynes for sale earlier this year. So.theyre not discontinued, just not a priority apparently. But with high demand in the secondary market maybe it'll spur more production.

Re: Need help dumping Cheetahmen: The Creation

if it makes you feel better, i might not have thought to dump it without this thread. i picked mine up secondhand and i think this is the first time i've ever booted it up.

it'd still be good to figure out how to dump yours to verify. maybe the script needs to be fixed or something.

Re: Adding sram to laser invasion

Sim city expects 2 ram slots of 16K each, not a single 32K. Each slot is capable of 32K on its own so I'd suspect you have your single chip wired up wrong.

Re: dumping unrom 512 board with copynes

thanks. i watched some writes with the fceu debugger and it does seem to change chr ram banks. notably the opening cutscene right after start is garbled if set to mapper 2. i didn't watch further but since the 32k pads are connected i'll leave the rom header as 32k. so this is what my assembled rom ...

dumping unrom 512 board with copynes

i have an (official) Assimilate cart. it has a unrom 512 board. i have a copynes system. i'm trying to build a nes rom from it. this is not the full version rom available on the official site- that is a mapper 1 rom. based on the pics, i gather the dumped rom should be specced as mapper 30 (?) 2 mb ...

Re: circuitry explanation for a cart hardware fix

Don't put a capacitor between /CE and GND. From my experience it is very problematic, for example - for -70ns SRAMs it worked, for -200ns it produced hanging of WRAM-based games randomly. Also it depended on the consoles, on some model it worked and on some doesn't. Better use the diode-resistor-ca...
