Re: MMC5 Famicom on NES
Somebody (muramasa?) had designed a low profile adapter to accommodate the tall famicom boards in a nes shell. Ive used a few for mmc5 repros and haven't had any issues. I would bet they are better designed than 99% of your typical chinese product. Idk if they are still sold anywhere but I'd start t...

Re: VS. Excitebike Mapper Hack?
There was a guy who had done vs smb and i thought several other vs games and had patches up on a personal site. Have you run across that guy? IIRC excitebike was on the list, being either done or in progress.

https://twitter.com/furrtek/status/1341 ... 93442?s=19
Furrtek on twitter had decapped and traced an mmc3 and shared his work. Thought it would be of interest around here.

Re: Bad SRAM chip ? Batman Return Of The Joker
The sram is an off the shelf part, you can find one on ebay or a suitable substitute is some cheap konami/ultra games. I hope that is your issue because ive seen a couple of these and heard of a few more with failed roms. If thats the case i should still have a couple sets of mask roms from when the...

Re: Irem H3001 - pinout
I assume you have seen this but just in case https://wiki.nesdev.com/w/index.php/INES_Mapper_065 Spartan X2 writes to an undocumented address at least once, $9002 iirc. I did a mmc3 conversion and simply omitted that write and had no consequences as far as I know. Would be interested if you can figu...

Re: Trying to make a NES repro with a "not supported for guessing" board
Yeah sorry i never got around to the logic for guessing 2.0 roms. Seems like those are more common now, i should fix that.
Looking at your output it should be standard unrom.

Re: Nes Noob Repro Starter help
If you're just starting and trying to get a handle on what you're doing, maybe pick a more straight forward application like simple nrom or cnrom. There are caveats with basically everything else that can be dealt with when you have a grasp on what you're doing.

Re: Nintendo "Gigaleak"
Saw a tweet there was another file dump. This one includes the disk system lot check, including an unreleased balloon fight port. Sounds like they're in an internal format but can be converted to fds.

Re: Mike Tyson's Punch-Out Disassembly
Well, I went through and completed the commenting of Glass Joe's right hook data. Not too interesting but I pulled apart a lot of the code to understand it. It's a good start on understanding the code that controls the opponent states. I reverse engineered about 2/3 of the subroutines that control ...

Re: Looks like NESCartDB is down (again)...
As compressed XML, it's about 300K. But there are probably more efficient ways to encode the same data. is ok to ask for a copy of that? if you're thinking js interface, json data format is much more efficient storage wise than xml. i'm a bit behind on current client storage/db approaches otherwise.
