Re: Getting someone to do a let's play of your homebrew game

Here's a little feedback about gameplay: The razor line is much better than the gun, since you can't hit low enemies with the gun, but you can hit them with the razor line. Also, not being able to drop down from platforms with A+Down seems strange. Thanks, The weapons all have pros and cons. I also...

Re: Getting someone to do a let's play of your homebrew game

Is there a new binary with the recent fixes? I'd like to get good enough for a YouTube video. Unfortunately, I get stuck at the guy who gives you a clue to find a projectile. I got a few fixes, but nothing major. About that guy. You need to beat Madamyne first. The room to the left of him. zigzag c...

Re: Midscreen scroll/parallax/character bank change glitchin

When you use the $2006/5/5/6 trick for resetting the scroll, only the last 2 writes have to fall inside the horizontal blank, because the first 2 don't affect rendering at all. Thank you! This right here was the magic I needed and I managed to get rid of my scanline glitches due to scrolling/ fg/bg...

Re: New efficient metasprite format

@Bregalad: Just curious, how many metasprite frames do you have and how much data is there? Are you finding trading time for space savings to be a win? It almost seems to be worth encoding the mirrored versions of the metasprites rather than doing the mirroring in code? What I ended up doing was hav...

Midscreen scroll/parallax/character bank change glitching?

I'm trying to remove the glitching I see at the edges of scanlines I see when setting scroll values mid hblank in my game. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions, I included my irq routine and an explanation of how it works. I included my mmc3 irq routine (multiLineIrq: is the entry point) ...

Re: Sprite OAM issue? (updated: bug in own code)

I had something similar with bankswitching and interrupt happening mid-switch and causing a bankswitch to the wrong bank. I ended up turning off interrupts when doing the bank switch, and ensuring the switches happened during certain scanlines.

Re: Getting someone to do a let's play of your homebrew game

Well, there is some good feedback here. I'm a little discouraged and overwhelmed, but I'll get over it. So pretty much I think I found a few people that can help me out on NintendoAge. What I'm really looking for is not advertisement, but rather a video playthrough of all the bosses and levels (2 pe...

Re: INL-ROM custom MMC3 hybrid mapper design

This project looks great!! Me personally I've been looking for a MMC3 tkrom 256kchr / 512kprg / 8kwram cart I could buy both for testing on the actual NES and to make carts of my homebrew once it's done.
Powerpak seems to have some unique issues.

Re: Getting someone to do a let's play of your homebrew game

A lot depends on what emulator you run it on too. Many emulators will have a lot more glitching due to the tight timing. Only an actual NES or Nintendulator seems to run it well.

Getting someone to do a let's play of your homebrew game?

Have any of you guys finding someone to do a lets play of your homebrew game? I'm trying to get find an experienced gamer to do a blind playthrough and make a LP video of it so I can see how a someone completely new to the game reacts and plays, and how intuitive the controls are. Unfortunately the ...

@fox: yeah the multidirectional scrolling with attributes was hellish to program. I do an IRQ Crystalis style split at char line 28 so that I don't have to deal with half an attribute block for lines 29 and 30. That saved me a lot of grief.. but still I estimate I'll take a day to debug those last a...

@infiniteneslives: The projectile you need is definitely implemented, you have to find Mademyne by climbing in the large room to the upper right exit. Its an exploration game like the original Metroid. There are 6 bosses to find, and everything is implemented so you can find and defeat them. Edit: T...

One thing I should say is that I did everything myself except for the music playback routines, which is Famitone. I can definitely find another musician (one willing to work within the Famitone contraints), but finding an animator that will understand the bank switching constraints, or a level desig...

"Hiatus Ward" Just uploaded my homebrew for you t

I just released a preview of my game (about 40-50% complete) for everyone to try out: Be careful to grab the hiatwrd0.nes file and not the advertised junk: http://www.sendspace.com/file/dt6h0o It's a metroidvania type game with 6 bosses so far and about 50 boards/levels. If you like Strider/Rygar/Me...
