I heard Mesen was incredibly accurate to a real NES. But other than that that's all I've ever known of it.

Re: Need help with mmc5.cpp source, for custom modification

I just love the NES so much, it's my favorite console, and I've loved coding for that machine, I especially love the work I've done with Legend of Link & Super Mario All-Stars NES (both MMC5 projects) and my next MMC5 project really has me excited, which is why I'm very happy the wram for the MMC5 c...

Re: Need help with mmc5.cpp source, for custom modification

I would love a register to enable both CHR-ROM/RAM. Maybe an FPGA MMC5 in the future with enhanced features?

Hmm, MMC5Plus? Can now use 1024kb wram? Loving these new discoveries.

Re: Need help with mmc5.cpp source, for custom modification

Do my current changes look ok? Especially my changes to & 7 ?

Any further assistance would be great. I can't progress any further with this, not even sure if what I've done is correct.

Re: Need help with mmc5.cpp source, for custom modification

Thank you rainwarrior, I'm going to start making adjustments/changes the best I can. EDIT So these are the changes I've made, but still no luck with swapping newer pages. I do however have the .sav outputting perfectly at 256kb. BuildWRAMSizeTable(void) for (x = 0; x < 32; x++) { //infidelity 11-12-...

Re: Need help with mmc5.cpp source, for custom modification

I'll edit that tonight. I know there's another section that looks to deal with the actual swapping of pages. They were "case"'s

case 0
case 1
case 2
case 4
case 8

I tried fiddling with that area but wasnt getting the correct results. Shouldn't have expected much since I can't write c++ :-/

Re: Need help with mmc5.cpp source, for custom modification

I'm creating a new project where the player can construct & save. I dont want to spoil any details as to what I'm trying to accomplish, but it works. I just need more available wram, which is why I've been trying to modify the mmc5.cpp file.

Need help with mmc5.cpp source, for custom modification

I'm not fluent in c++, but I've been attempting to modify certain functions within the MMC5 mapper. So far I've been able to adjust the output size of the .sav file, but I need to adjust how many swappable wram pages are available. Register $5113 goes from 00-07, giving you 8 individual 2000 byte pa...

Re: Need refresher on proper tile write without screen fluct

Ok really weird, I went somewhere where the scanline was around 241, (was sniffing around a vram buffer in the game I wasnt utilizing for what I'm doing) and I sub routined my code there, and now it works.

I've always been flakey with the NES timings, ugh.
