Re: Need guidance with nes to snes.

So INIDISP is the equivalent of the nes ppu rendering enable/disable? I want to make sure I understand. I dont want to confuse brightness for rendering, or else my port will be incorrect with writing vast amount of tiles to the BG layer.

The equivalent to turning everything off is writing a negative value ($80-$FF) to brightness ($2100).
Thank you, just updated my notes.

Re: Need guidance with nes to snes.

I'm not sure if I have the nes ppu rendering ($2001.4 $2001.3) equivalents correct in my notes. Would someone take a look and see if that is correct? I'm worried the equivalent i have listed is just simply turning off the SNES bg layers visually, and not actually turning them off so that the snes ca...

Re: Need guidance with nes to snes.

@Myself086, I see what you're saying regarding $2000. I always went by those bits as, $2000, $2400, $2800, $2C00 for nes Nametable selection. But I understand and agree that what its doing is moving the scan line that many lines instantaneously. So thank you for clearing that up for me.

- $2000.0 and $2000.1 should be scroll values bit 8.
I'm confused by this remark. Is this in regards to NES or SNES?

And thank you for the additional notes.

Need guidance with nes to snes.

I'd like to start slow and attempt to port an NROM title to the snes. I know someone ported Super Mario Bros., but I'd like to do the same as that game being my first port. Before I learned of that, i was jotting down notes of what the nes ppu addresses are, and what the snes equivalents would be. M...

Re: issue with super mario bros sprite 0 xy, when reading $2007

I have another issue. There's an unrom game I was messing with that always has an active Sprite 0. I wanted to do a simple tile write to the nametable. I didnt want to add additional code to the games original vram routine, just so I could already be at 246 scanlines, so I tried doing BIT $2002 BPL,...

Re: issue with super mario bros sprite 0 xy, when reading $2007

Here is an updated version of my code. I'm still getting an xy error within the info bar where sprite0 is. Is the order placements of my routines correct? What else am I missing? BIT $2002 BPL #$FB ;back to BIT $2002 ;scanline at this point is 241 ;this code is to allow more time to pass ;so that th...

Re: issue with super mario bros sprite 0 xy, when reading $2007

i tried that, but it looks like sprite 0 dissapears, meaning the entire screen for a split second looks like the entire said NT, whether you are on $2000 or $2400. Not sure if my order of things happening is the issue?

issue with super mario bros sprite 0 xy, when reading $2007

Yup i'm at it again with needing assistance with timing, ugh. So here is what i'm doing. I need to read an attribute byte so i can ORA it, and stick it within the games vram buffer. My code works, the bits i need modified are done so correctly, but i keep forgetting how to handle $2005 when my routi...

I heard Mesen was incredibly accurate to a real NES. But other than that that's all I've ever known of it.

Re: Need help with mmc5.cpp source, for custom modification

I just love the NES so much, it's my favorite console, and I've loved coding for that machine, I especially love the work I've done with Legend of Link & Super Mario All-Stars NES (both MMC5 projects) and my next MMC5 project really has me excited, which is why I'm very happy the wram for the MMC5 c...

Re: Need help with mmc5.cpp source, for custom modification

I would love a register to enable both CHR-ROM/RAM. Maybe an FPGA MMC5 in the future with enhanced features?

Everdrive N8 Pro in 2020 will be perfect for the larger MMC5 titles, present & future.
