I’m in awe!

Have you tried any games with raster effects?

I wonder what kind of internal fault would cause this behavior by the PPU...

Re: Anyone Interested in a Combined NES + Gameboy Cart?

Debugging facilities will probably be limited mainly to dumping RAM and being able to modify RAM/ROM on the cart itself. Single stepping wouldn't be possible since I don't have control per se over the NES' CPU. Makes sense. I guess you could sort of fake it since a cartridge can see and manipulate ...

Does NDX's random RAM generation thing actually occur on a real NES?
Looks and runs fine on an Everdrive.

Re: Anyone Interested in a Combined NES + Gameboy Cart?

How feasible is it to implement debugging features on a flash cart (or is that what you mean by CopyNES light?)?. For example -- bank watching, stepping debugger, read/write/exec breakpoints, instruction trace logging, RAM listings -- all on real hardware, using a gdb-like textual control interface ...

Re: Have people changed their mind's about Satoru Iwata now?

To echo RT-55J, maybe the set of people who hated on Iwata then is disjoint from the set now loving on him, and you've just heard two crowds that speak up in different circumstances. Or are you thinking of specific examples of duplicity by individuals?

And simultaneously integrate the Game Genie functionality into the console. That would be cool.

Using gimpscript to automate my CHR graphics asset pipeline

Just thought I'd share a development technique I recently worked out, in case it's useful to others. You probably already know about tepple's Python Image Library-based png/gif/etc -> CHR converter from his NROM template . This is great, because it means you can generate your pattern tables / CHR RO...

Re: Anybody have a copy of Schweino's SNES Archive? :3

I don't know what is/was in these files (too new to the scene), but I'm schadenlolling at this: Do not host these files somewhere else. Shouldn't the goal be exactly the opposite, to make as many distributed replications of valuable data as possible, so that it won't go up in a puff at a single poin...

Wiki registration issues (email broken)

I created an account on the wiki, but the sending of the post-registration email seems to be borked: http://i.imgur.com/gjX7DEt.png I think this implies, according to the group rights page , that I can never become emailconfirmed, but I guess I can still become autoconfirmed by editing some talk pag...

Re: JMP, fine...JSR, nope...

Honestly what I would do is just run the rom in an emulator with a debugger like fceux or nintendulatordx, set a break-point on the routine, and step through it. You'll probably spot the problem immediately that way.

In addition to possible interference by interrupt handlers, it's worth asking whether the meat of your routine touches the stack pointer or data on the stack at all.

Or for a more general concept, don't name your sidescrolling platform fan-game starring a man in overalls Comparative Adjective Mario Noun , and you'll be fine. Of course (IANAL), in the US, at least, if your game is a bona fide satire, your right to free speech takes precedence. Hmm, NSFW homebrew...
