Re: Multi region NES cartridges?

The clock is not "slower", The clock does less. It takes 50hz to complete a second (ish), while NTSC takes 60hz to complete a second(ish). So the VBlank call is going to fire at 5/6th of what it thinks it is suppose to fire at, which would make it appear faster. PAL to NTSC works in the opposite wa...

Re: Handheld famicom

A handheld, portable NES that's NOT based on a famiclone / NOAC is something I've been hoping someone would make for YEARS. I use a NES as a part of a live band and I've been hoping to find ways of miniaturizing and making my setup more portable. If you ever make this into a product, even a short r...

Re: Gimmick! exAct * mix

Just to say this looks amazing, but it's a shame there's those guys talking and we can't hear what the remixed music sounds like. Same. I'm really curious to hear more. I first discovered Gimmick through some friends in the chip music community raving about the soundtrack about a decade ago... fast...

Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ar9WRwCiSr0 Making of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTlNVUmBA28 The idea of putting a more powerful processor into a NES cartridge and expanding the abilities of the NES have been talked about and demonstrated here on nesdev before, so I guess this is not re...

Re: Best uses of the SNES's 64KB of audio ram

And of course, just like when you are mixing your tracks in "actual" music production, I'm sure you want to prevent the frequencies of multiple instruments to clash with eachother. Sorry, but that sentence is absolutely meaningless. How so? What Sumez is talking about is called frequency slotting -...

<snip> and can't possibly be very useful for chiptunes either. I use a NES for live music performances and I disagree... but with a caveat. I have my NES modded to have individual "stereo" outputs as well as a 3rd output for the expansion audio fed from the powerpak. The catch is I feed everything ...

Re: Cart to Cart saves.

Offhand, I don't know of a solution for the SNES, but for Game Boy games the InterAct Mega Memory Card should do the trick. It allows you to back up and restore saves from GB games. I had one "back in the day" and I know I used it successfully with all of the games in my meager collection which incl...

Super Russian Roulette is coming out very soon (now-ish?), which also hijacks the $4011, being fed PCM from another source (to be able to have lots of it). RetroUSB's A Winner Is You cart does something similar, from what I understand. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNObZxrj_A4 I want to hit Batsl...

Re: BATMAP-000 board (1MB PRG, 32k CHR-RAM), Star Versus

As far as I know it's only been used in Star Versus. It was also used in the Anamanaguchi kickstarter cart. I don't have one myself to check for sure, but in this photo you can see a section of the PCB through the transparent window in the cart shell. http://i.imgur.com/lfSR0T0.jpg It's possible th...

Re: Lizard

I would really like to own this game on a real NES cart, but you really need to wrap it up this year and finish this. And here are my thoughts: no, he really doesn't. This game is his baby. I'd rather have a game that's completed to Brad's satisfaction than one that is rushed out to meet some arbit...

Re: I can't record NES via TOTMC

I don't have that exact capture device, but I have a similar one that also does not work with the NES video signal. I put it down to the capture device not supporting 240p signals and/or not supporting the ~30.051 fps output (as opposed to the conventional NTSC standard 29.97 fps).

Damn. :( I feel bad for giving sympathy to the USPS in my earlier posts. Personally I'm convinced of the whole "MOTHER FUCKING THIEVES" theory (Hanlon's razor: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." - I find it much easier to believe that the USPS is incompetent...

Same. Depending on what you're looking for I can potentially adapt the NES parts of a Marshall Art song or two to fit your needs.
