Re: CX4 lorom mapper address lines vs. edge connector

Do I understand correctly then that ROM reads cause the outgoing address to be 'frozen' for a configurable number of clock cycles (the # of wait states), while the SNES CPU can in the meantime continue to alter whatever's on the bus in parallel?

CX4 lorom mapper address lines vs. edge connector

It appears as if the lorom/hirom mapper inside the CX4 is not as transparent as I thought it would be. A simple experiment has revealed a difference between the CX4 incoming address lines (from edge) vs. the outgoing ones (to ROM). When hooking up ROM A20 to CX4 pin RA20 (pin 34) the regular MMX3 be...

Re: Anyone have problems using 29F032/33s?

I've used hundreds without issue. I recall one 29016 being bad out of all of them. I don't know your programmer, maybe it sucks. Continuity doesn't tell much about shorted pins either. If the software that comes with your programmer tells you at which address programming fails, you can sometimes ded...

Re: Megaman X3 Project Zero

Haven't tried that but it did cross my mind. This was the easier theory to test, because of those data line test points. If that works, a 1-rom solution is easy too. If not, easiest way would probably be to design a custom board and transplant a cx4..

Re: Adding address line to cx4 board (32mb romhack)

Sorry I didn't see the thread before. It got linked from here where I just posted what I did somewhere in 2016 to achieve what you're looking for. Funny to see how we pretty much went about it the same way.

Re: Megaman X3 Project Zero

I am trying to put the awesome Rockman X3 hack known as " Project Zero " on a 1DC0N board. I am not working with x2 or trying to put x3 on a 2dc0n board at all. That was another project and I know how to do that. I am trying to replace one 1.5mb 40pin mask rom with one 4mb 36pin 29f033c chip. I've ...

Re: Broken SNES - what to replace?

Recapping didn't help so I'll try replacing the CPU next. I found one that wasn't so nicely desoldered, bent legs and it doesn't sit entirely flat. But with some patience and fine tweezers it'll work, if not I'll have to sacrifice a dirty yellow cheap super famicom.

Re: Broken SNES - what to replace?

Thanks for all the helpful replies guys! You didn't say ... did all of the explicit tests in the burn-in cartridge get a pass? (Or can you not tell, because the video is only barely functional?) The tests crashed the console. I managed to start the bottom test #5 (forgot what it was called) which us...

Broken SNES - what to replace?

I've received a SNES to install a supercic mod in, but unfortunately it doesn't boot any games. So I tried a burn-in test cartridge, and initially that didn't give anything but a black screen either. I verified that some voltages are present on all chips and decided to touch up the PPU's and CPU. Te...

Re: boards with 2 mask roms + 2 27c040 = 1MB?

Not easily, you'd have to modify the decoder so that it enables ROM2 past >512kB into the ROM instead of 1MB (so at A19 instead of A20). That alone would be tricker than just getting a 27c080 or a eeprom adapter board.

Re: Need help dumping SA1 Chip games

I've got the SA-1 working with a small code change to the current sketch V9G running on the original PCB shield. There needs to be a delay after setting cicrstPin LOW in setup_Snes(). I'll try this tonight. I've done a lot of trial and error and eventually gave up on SA-1 dumping. Things that didn'...

Re: FOR SALE: Star Fox 2 ROM and CIC chips

Looks pretty cool. I've recently had these manufactured: http://files.zzattack.org/img/upload/210101-261-Q9W8z_thumb.JPG They're pretty easy to solder, and need only 6 pins. The mcu is a little cheaper too. I'm not selling them yet but expect to offer them soon for $2 ish populated and programmed.
