Re: converting PAL NES to NTSC

Thanks for the responses - yes the NTSC pad (JP5) is closed, not the PAL ones. I have read of other people having many troubles with clone PPU/CPU and NESRGB installs - so suprised you are saying you have it working well, glad you have done this tbh. Have you left these units powered on for some-tim...

converting PAL NES to NTSC

Hey nesdevvers, I have worked on at least 100 NES consoles, many of them NESRGB installs or other misc repairs like faulty chip replacements, so I have spent a fair bit of time under the hood of NES consoles. Since I had a bunch of PAL NES consoles (living in Australia) I decided to try and convert ...

Re: how to remove dip chip perfectly?

Memblers is spot on. Whenever I am going to remove a Nintendo CPU/PPU I re-flow every pin with some solder, after putting flux everywhere. Then I go and use my desolder station on each pin. I heat up each pin, then kind of move the tip of the desolder gun in a circular fashion whilst on the pin to p...

NESRGB audio input/outputs mixed with Twin Famicom audio

Tims NESRGB board does a really nice job. It also does a nice job improving the audio out by means of the O, A and B pads on the NESRGB PCB. I have just dug out my TwinFC and RGB modded with a NESRGB board - but I thought, I would like to use the improved audio mixing circuit on the NESRGB, but also...

Re: nesrgb colours wrong using RGB/YUV although composite wo

thanks lidnariq and Tim Worthington for both replying to me ! The problem with the YUV was that the power or GND on the YUV board was not soldered all the way through  and the problem with the RGB Blue line was that the DIN connector I was using was not effectively poking into my Framemeister,...

nesrgb colours wrong using RGB/YUV although composite works

After having successfully installing a nesrgb in my FamicomAV, I wanted to put one in a clean pal NES I have. After finishing installation + installing the component board I was surprised to see really strange colours when using component and off-colours using scart RGB ouput, but composite from the...

Re: Perfect FDS 2C33 audio when not using actual FDS disks?

New update is up. I fixed the problem with Tototek 3206 write mod chips and made some other changes that should make disk reading and writing more reliable. Wow nice stuff loopy, I did however accidentally rip up a trace on my FDSStick while upgrading to 128MB so I have ordered another from tototek...

Re: Perfect FDS 2C33 audio when not using actual FDS disks?

:P I am waiting for a new pair of flush-cuts to arrive before I attempt this. Kazmat, can you tell me the process you undertook to swap it over, I have not had to swap out such a small chip before - I really don't want to wreck it. I do a lot of soldering work and pcb modifications etc but just a bi...

Re: Perfect FDS 2C33 audio when not using actual FDS disks?

New software update is available (Windows GUI). Supports larger flash, and boots to a menu (credit to deadbody for inspiration ;)). I'll throw the source up on github, it may take a few days to get it organized. Awesome job the menu is really handy. I noticed the following ; -menu lists games you h...

Re: Perfect FDS 2C33 audio when not using actual FDS disks?

I don't have a 3206 drive to test with. Would the modchip have the same effect with a 7201? cut the traces to the write gates on a 7201 !? blasphemy   i'll send u a 3206 if you send me a 7201  --- I tested out using diskhacker and such apps with my chipped 3206, it appears t...

Re: Perfect FDS 2C33 audio when not using actual FDS disks?

Hi evilsim, Thanks for the reply Tomy, I understand that fdsstick and this chip don't work yet. I am happy to wait and see if a new firmware on the fdsstick will resolve this problem. Like I said I have 4 FDS drives, one of them is in a TwinFC and 3 loose FDS units, one being a 7201. If there is an...

Re: Perfect FDS 2C33 audio when not using actual FDS disks?

hello all I am so glad to have found other people with the same struggles as me :) (well, not so many now ; see EDIT) I have a 3206 drive with tototek write chip installed, v5 power board modded I am using a cable I made using 2 x N64 scart cables -previously I was able to dump 1 disk when my cable ...
