Re: FamiStudio 2.0.0 Released!

Hi! I don't know if this would be the right place to post it, but I figured I'd try it. I've been trying to get FamiStudio to run on my Linux machine but to no avail. This is what I get: Unhandled Exception: System.DllNotFoundException: NesSndEmu.so assembly:<unknown assembly> type:<unknown type> me...

Re: My Untitled Platformer

Just tried it out. Seems really promising! I love how fluid the animation looks for such tiny sprites. The little bounces when you fall from a certain height and the death animation are nice touches. Oh, the music is pretty cool too! Arps get my insta-approval :P Suggestion: you might wanna hide the...

Re: converting MIDI to NSF - is this possible?

If you just want to produce some NES-like fakebit for a PC game or something, get yourself a copy of a plugin such as the Nintendo VST or even Super Audio Cart , in case you're willing to spend. Going down the tracker and/or MML route probably isn't worth it unless you absolutely want to do everythi...

Re: SaturdayMan

Haha, that's awesome! Just played it for a little bit. I'm really loving this soundtrack (with all the arps europeans are known for). Also, I'm quite impressed by how they made the whole beat 'em up + platforming setup work. There's a lot of ways in which that z-axis can get wonky  With that sa...

There's this http://bestnestracks.captaintortilla.com/results/ Sees Willy 1, Bloody Tears and The Moon on top 5 Oh, for fucks sake! Like others who posted here, I know and love waaay too much NES music to pick an absolute favorite. I'll say tho that I think CV3 strikes an impressive balance between...

Re: Thwaite (remix): want to collaborate?

I like it. Thanks. I can see using it for a future project. That's totally fine by me! :D But your suspicion was correct that it doesn't fit the style of Thwaite Ah, that's okay! Well... I wrote a new track. Hopefully, this one fits the style you're going for better ;) But thanks anyway for inspiri...

Hey! I just wrote a little 5/8 tune using the instruments on the original .ftm.
I don't know how fitting it is to the game, but feel free to use it ;)

Re: unofficial famitone 4 is done

The word "FamiTone4.1" at the top is different in the linux version. I changed it to just say "FamiTone4" so that I don't have to edit this line every time I do an update. Which tells me that the linux version is an older version of text2vol4. Song_win.s was generated using the text2vol4 Windows ex...

Re: unofficial famitone 4 is done

it should now compile on linux. It should compile on mac too. Indeed, it does! :D Its output seems to match the one generated by the Windows executable, while being a bit smaller, somehow..? Maybe that's just down to Windows handling .txt files differently? Either way, the problem with playback sti...

Re: unofficial famitone 4 is done

Use the files from the github, if you aren't. I re-downloaded the files just to be sure, but, alas, still the same issue. I don't know why. My Song.s looks somewhat different. Wine gives me a bunch of errors when running text2vol4, but since it still outputs the files, I assumed it was working prop...

Re: unofficial famitone 4 is done

I believe arpeggio sequences have to be "absolute" and not "relative". Ah, noted! That still didn't seem to fix it for me, unfortunately :/ Sounds ok when I process it, with "absolute". It does, indeed! That's intriguing... Maybe I just didn't assemble the files correctly? I'm not super familiar wi...

Re: unofficial famitone 4 is done

Hey! I was trying to build a simple ROM to test this out. However, the playback doesn't seem to match what I intended. Specifically, seems like noise arpeggio sequences and volume column sequences on both noise and pulse channels sound kinda weird. Maybe I'm missing something obvious here, but any h...

Re: Simple ROM works as expected on FCEUX but not on Mesen

Don't worry about banks on your first test project, though. Just make it NROM :) Haha, you've got a point. Since I plan on using ANROM for future projects tho, I wanted to try to figure out how it works too :) The only reliable approach is to only depend on the static banks, and use that to initial...

Ah, so, Mesen's the one out of the two that correctly implements it, as you'd expect :P
Thanks for clarifying, it does make a lot more sense to me now :D

[...] but if you're getting a black screen in 0.9.6, it's most likely enabled) That's the thing! I had that option disabled and it defaulted to bank 0 as expected. Everything seemed to run fine on the CPU side, looking at the debugger, but all writes to OAM seem to be ignored, at least according to...
