ccovell, about your demos
Note: 1 and 3 are probably demo coding bugs; 2 is probably an emulation bug; 4 is not related to emulation. This topic should probably be moved to NESemdev, if only because of #2. 1. Why doesn't the non-FDS version of Stars SE Demo work on FCEU/Nestopia/Nintendulator, even though you tested it on h...

Correct. The US version of Contra was released before the Japanese version. At least that's what I heard, and it's the only explanation that makes sense to me.Bregalad wrote:...Or maybe they did just the UNROM version first, and just added cutscenes in the japanese version right before the release ?

I'm not sure that people will be able to discuss this topic properly. As was mentioned earlier, Nintendo can simply "pull a Nesticle" and hack the ROMs as needed to make them work properly with an inaccurate emulator rather than spending time to improve the accuracy of the emulator itself. The only ...

Probably isn't going to help at this point but...
I know that the issue of emulating mapper 185 was discussed a while back on the Nestopia part of R. Bannister's Emuversal Bulletin Board (and somebody came up with some logic that is cleaner than that table), but I'm too lazy to search for it since something screwed up with my account when they cha...

I have some doubts as to the accuracy of that picture - isn't mapper 67 a Sunsoft mapper?Bregalad wrote:Mapper 67 (showing a japanese Dragon Quest title)...

EDIT: Oops, removed first half of post - there's a different thread for that now... I still have a weird problem with the Quantum Disco Brothers demo you released. From what I can tell it runs right for the most part, except for the color bars part. A screenshot of how it looks in my emu: http://di...

Something to note: One variant of the VRC7 uses A4 for registers ($x010), another uses A3 ($x008). Additionally, A5 is used on the first mentioned variant only for sound registers ($x030) Clarification: My point is that Lagrange Point and TTA2j must at least have different wirings (and possibly diff...

To clarify: My vote was for the last option. I would also like to mention that my (n00bish) conception of an "ideal" mapper would have enough RAM for four-screen mirroring but also a programmatically controllable option to do some real mirroring with those nametable pages. I generally agree with the...
