Re: Rainbow : a WiFi cart / mapper for the NES !

Both implementations work. InlFirmware is the implementation of the mapper nesNET, being developped by INL, while BrokeStudioFirmware is the implementation of RAINBOW mapper from BrokeStudio. I originally made two branches, expecting to separate them, but finally having an emulator handling both is ...

Oh yeah, it seems to be a better fit. I'll let JRoatch know how/where to find the updated game in case he wants it. Thank you

Re: 2018 NESDev Compo Rules/Guidelines

I continued development of Super Tilt Bro. (tail of the ladder in 2016). I wonder if it is interesting to you as a remix. As it was not done for the compo, but simply two years of hobby-dev, I would opt-out of any prize. If you are interested I may make an entry thread listing differences since 2016...

Re: Action 53 volume 3

Here is half the work of updating the contributors list, from what I was able to gather on results page. Notably missing are "Button logger", "Musical controller" and anything in the "More" tab. Content section: '''Action 53 Revenge of the twins Volume 3''' #Twin Dragons #Nebs 'n Debs #Filthy Kitche...

Re: Progress Thread - Jammin Honey

It is certainly a choice to be made, but it was intriguing that the notes counter counts 2 for doubles. It can make for situations where the counter is 2, while there is only one left item on the stage.

I would love to see my screen name with my name: "Sylvain Gadrat aka RogerBidon", like for dustmop and others.

Re: Hatris AI

Hey great reading, thanks. I wonder what would happen if the AI only evaluated the current hats pair for placement consideration, without care to the next-pair. Would it be largely detrimental to the number of spawns before gameover or not? From pure feeling, it seems that what is immediatly good is...

Re: Artificial intelligence's architecture

The gambit system is awesome, it shines by its simplicity. Also, it is particularly adapted for an RPG as the game can naturally unlock it progressively to let the player experiment with a limited version before getting access to the full stuff. FF XII being turn based also helps for accessibility, ...

Re: How to know instruction before debugger point?

Working with savestates comes with its corner-cases. I think about gamepad inputs. (Does any other unpredictible data exists?). gamepad input may be handled by taking an extra save-state on $4016 write, but it commonly means a save-state per frame. Maybe storing what's needed to rollback each instru...

Artificial intelligence's architecture

How do you handle non-trivial artificial intelligence in your homebrews? I just re-implemented a new AI for the Smashbros-like that entered the nesdev compo 2016. Since I love to solve problems by myself, I came with my own solution. At any time, the bot has a current action, which is a simple techn...

Re: A53v3 Contributor Write-Ups

Finding his childhood's game system gathering dust in a storeroom marked the beginning of Sylvain's NES development journey. As a first project, Super Tilt Bro was expected to be too big, simply a coding exercise, but endless love for the NES brought it to life. Super Tilt Bro, present in Action53 ...

Re: 2017 NESDev Compo - Rules/Guidelines (Tentative)

This is not critical, as not a formal part of the rules, but I have troubles to understand this sentence: Category 2 is intended to give publicity to homebrewers [...], and to encourage entrants to finish their projects. How does it encourage to finish the projects? According to last year, changes w...

Re: Action 53 volume 3

Here Super Tilt Bros. previously made cropped screen . It seems the discussion did not end on an explicit consensus. From what I understood: Pro cropped screenshot: Often look better Pro scaled screenshot: Like previous A53 editions Like "PlayStation Interactive CD Sampler volumes 7" which inspired ...
