Don't want to derail the thread, but this question don't warrant its own thread:

Did any mmc3 game had CHR RAM above 8k (w/ bankswitch) ?

What are the chances of retro game dev becoming a thing for mid/large companies?

Yuzo Koshiro is making a game for the Megadrive...

Re: Homebrew feels commercial by default now

Probably, got something to do with the rise of retro game collection. A ROM file has no value for collectors as it is "unlimited" in quantity. But cartridges releases are often made in limited batches. For collectors this is key.

Re: New Action Adventure Game

Sure enough, the dungeon boss's movements seem a bit random but after two whirlwind moves he can be slashed just before he reaches his original position. Sounds good. What I have not been able to do is damage him with the fire staff. You can't harm him with the Firestaff. It was too easy otherwise....

Re: New Action Adventure Game

I beat the demo, pretty fun. You nailed that FF-Zelda-hybrid feeling pretty well. Dungeons have the feel of FF dungeons with a fling of Zelda puzzle solving and battles are a mix of Zelda and Seiken Densetsu. Thank you for playing. How was the boss battle for you? Many think the boss is too random ...

Re: New Action Adventure Game

I have been testing the DEMO. Looks great. Graphically the sprites remind me to a certain extent of Final Fantasy I / II but at a playable level it feels like Zelda. This is fantastic. Thank you. This was the intention. :) Please, tell your friends about the KS! It reminded me a lot of "Rodas ...

Currently, the game runs on mmc1 mapper. The game uses CHR ram, a 256k PRG rom and a 8K additional WRAM. Features: 2 player ...

Re: NEXXT - a newer "NES Screen Tool"

This looks good.
After playing with it for a while a have some requests:

-paint bucket fill type
-more depth for undo (control-z)
-full window mode

Also, it would be nice to have a 'data layer' to set unpassables, over-under tiles, etc.

Re: unnamed-snes-game

Nice :D This is one of best SNES homebrews demos I've seen. Right up my alley. Things I most liked: -Fast and fluid character movement -Enemy AI -Transition scrolling -Overall game design/flow Things that need improvement: -A better indicator when taking damage. Maybe flash the main character red or...
