Re: Expanding PRG space in MMC3

Here's that memory section, [spoiler] MEMORY { ZP: start = $0000, size = $0100, type = rw, define = yes; HEADER: start = $0000, size = $0010, file = %O ,fill = yes; PRG1: start = $8000, size = $2000, file = %O ,fill = yes; # PRG2: start = $8000, size = $2000, file = %O ,fill = yes; # level PRG3: sta...

Re: Expanding PRG space in MMC3

Oh! Okay, so have my PRG's defined up to 30 working smoothly. Thanks very much! So though, if I change NES_PRG_BANKS: type = weak, value = 16; # number of 16K PRG banks, change to 2 for NROM256 To anything >16 NES_PRG_BANKS: type = weak, value = 32; # number of 16K PRG banks, change to 2 for NROM256...

Expanding PRG space in MMC3

Hello forums, I'm writing a project using the MMC3 mapper. It is my understanding that I could potentially have 32 PRG banks in this mapper, and I desperately need them! It was my understanding that I would just change the "NES_PRG_BANKS" value to "32". I would then need to assign entries to PRG ban...

Swapping Pattern Tables that Background draws from?

I have a project written in C, using MMC3. I have some large backgrounds/story pieces that I am using more complicated tilesets for, so I'm using my four smaller CHR banks to get all the good detail in. Most of the time I draw my backgrounds from my two larger CHR banks and my sprites from the four ...

Re: cc/ca65 language extension for VS Code

Thanks for sharing this! I've been using VS code for my ventures into NESdev, and this is super helpful.

I really tried to use Atom, but it seems to be a massive resource hog. Which is a little bizarre, since both VScode and Atom are built on Electron.

I did call you doug elf, I fixed it as you were posting. I feel better that RoboCop did as well. We will petition to have your name officially changed.

Asynchronous communication is funny.

Re: Address Size Mismatch in CC65?

@douggelf: I've been gone for a few days because I've been trawling your tutorials and resources, trying to further understand your advice with banks here. Thanks for those resources! @goitsu: I apologize for my overflippancy! I did not mean it! NEStopia has been my emulator of choice for years. I f...

Re: Address Size Mismatch in CC65?

Oh I see, thanks for that! I wasn't sure that it would cause corruption, but I didn't know enough to say it wouldn't, so thanks! I'll put marking them with pragmas in my todo pile, thanks for the tip. So it turns out, Nestopia is terrible, and FCEUX loads the ROM without any issues. Thanks for your ...

Address Size Mismatch in CC65?

Hello forums! I'm pretty new to NESDev. I inherited a codebase on a project, and it has been pretty rough going. I'm getting CC65 to actually compile, but it gives me a corrupt .nes file, and I'm assuming its related to these warnings. I can see where these are defined in crt0.s under zeropage, but ...
