Re: Replacing Liquid Electrolytic Capacitors With Solid Capacitors

Why recap the old voltage regulator instead of replace it entirely? I hear the modern replacements are quite a bit better. Sorry if I wasn’t clear, but I replaced the voltage regulator with a modern higher rated regulator, in addition to upgrading the caps and adding the cap on the output of the ne...

Re: SNS-002: How do I test the output?

You really should use an oscilloscope to test because you need to see what the voltage ripple and noise looks like. I recently replaced the capacitor in my SNES power supply with an ultra long life 135 Celsius rates cap. Here is what my oscilloscope shows when there is no load and then with load. 3F...

Replacing Liquid Electrolytic Capacitors With Solid Capacitors

The liquid electrolytic capacitors in electronic devices such as the SNES start to dry out after 15 years roughly. Some last longer than others before needing to be re-capped. Dry caps may also accelerate the aging of other components in the SNES, degrade audio and video quality, as well as cause ot...

SNES hardware clones

Why are the SNES clones so much more accurate than the NES clones? What are the known issues / flaws in the popular SNES clones being sold today?

Ramsis, do you have an ETA on a release? What will be the easiest way to update the firmware?

Yeah, I saw the kickstarter. I've been waiting for a proper sequel to the SNES Shadowrun ever since I finished the game and the credits promised a sequel. Once they said that they'd make a mission that tied in with the SNES game I donated $30.

Here is an artical that mentions the two versions with screenshots comparing the dialog:

Shadowrun (uncensored version)

I remember old EGM screenshots of Shadowrun showing slightly different dialog and item names for various things. For example, instead of the release version's "Iced Tea" in the bar, it was a beer. Does the GoodSNES ROM set contain this uncensored version of the game? If so, what is the name of the f...

I got my Super UFO Pro 8 flash cart this week. It is smaller than the Super Power Pak. The build quality seems good, but is difficult to get to work. I first tried using it with my FC-16 Go and SanDisk 512MB SD flash card. The cart booted and showed a nice graphical copier-like menu with music. Howe...

Some claim it's the best one in the series. I haven't played it myself, so I can't say if I agree or not, but it does have a good reputation.
It is extremely difficult, but innovative. It is definitely a must play.

Again, the sd2snes will be the best for game compatibility, but this Super UFO will be neat to have for the copier features and SNES to PC link features.

It looks pretty cool. It is a miniaturized copier. Instead of a floppy it uses SD, and instead of a parallel port it uses a USB port. Looking at the manual, it definitely seems to be a re-hash of a copier: http://www.swapmagic3.com/superufopro8/upload_files/Pro8manual.pdf I wish it had the FPGA of t...

Looks like StoneAgeGamer is organizing a proper mass production, which is good because ikari's time is better spent improving the firmware:

Hopefully everybody plays fair and money from sales is fairly distributed.

Do you have a link to the NintendoAge thread? Super Mario RPG works on my Supaboy, but I after a few playing a few times, my saves ended up getting erased. Now, my cart has its original batteries in it, so it might just be dead batteries and not the Supaboy that erased the games. Is it even possible...
