Yeah you can dump Famicom with CopyNES via an adaptor. Technically you could use CopyNES with an actual Famicom console instead of a NES, but you couldn't fit it back into the case so you'd have to use it without the shell, which would suck.

Bankwatch and Microbug are fully functional in the windows ports, both Q's par port version and retrousbs copynesw versions. IIRC, your on Linux so that isn't much help. Both would probably be a bit of work to port to you version... especially Microbug. Bankwatch is a quick and easy way to probe car...

Added new pages to Nes Cart Database site, new XML posted

http://bootgod.dyndns.org:7777/home.php I've added a missing games list, pcb viewer, and huge amount of stats to site. These pages have been around for some time now and aren't quite polished up, but I never have time to do jack lately so I posted them anyways. Also a current XML file has been post...

Yeah there are plenty of legit carts that use UV EPROM's. I have also come across at least 1 Irem cart that comes both with and without the LED, Zippy Race. The LED ones are dated from 1985 and the non-LED one is from 1989. It seems they stopped using LED's around Sept. 1987 The cart you show has EP...

Do you have a new version of your dumping database software available yet? Yes and No :P I don't have it posted on the site publicly because I feel a few things are more complicated than they need to be and I have ideas to improve this but I just haven't had the time to get to it. If your anxious t...

This ROM still hasn't surfaced?! The CHR ROM in this cart was a huge pain in the ass as detailed in another post http://nesdev.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=7106 but it has been successfully dumped more than once http://bootgod.dyndns.org:7777/search.p ... wtype=game

This board has an extra register accessed by writing to WRAM ($6000). Only bits 0-2 are used. PRG is swapped in 64KB chunks and CHR in 128KB chunks. WRAM needs to be enabled thru MMC to write these values (write $80 to $A001). Writing value WR (hex) to $6000 will select banks shown in table WR | PRG...

Nestopia is aware of Cybernoid bus conflict issues and does actually emulate the bus conditions. Don't remember if it does this for all boards that have them or just special cases for games that need it.

I work with a 3D modeler that I could possibly coerce into contributing some work. How many different types of models do you think would be needed? One for every unique cartridge and box type to be sure, but I'm not sure how many that would be. I would guess there is roughly 40 cart types in the db...

Yep, exactly. Couldn't have put it better myself. :) For the record, I have yet to run into a CRC32 clash between different ROMs, and I don't expect I ever will. Just to be sure though, SHA-1 is recorded too.

Going one more step forward, it would also be nice to get 3D mesh data from the server so that clients can construct models of the box, cart, etc and present to the user in the game browser if they want. Agreed, you know a couple years ago I seriously considered getting this 3D scanner , which is j...

Well I figured the script could be called in 3 ways: 1. Specify ImageID and it returns that exact image 2. Specify CartID and ImageType and it returns an image that matches the properties of specified CartID. This is how the website does it. 3. Specify hash and ImageType and some sort of priorities....

Adding images to NES cart DB XML, using with emulators

I had always planned on adding image support to the XML, but never got around to adding it to the spec. Here is a quick rundown of planned XML changes. If you have ideas to make it better, by all means, let me know. Always though it would be cool to be able load up a game thru an interface something...
