Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

Is there any way to write the palette separately to flash memory? If so, one might make specially crafted NES ROMs that contain a palette and flashing code, which would allow EverDrive and PowerPak users to add a custom palette. not really. the code ROM only has maybe 30 bytes free in it so I can't...

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

I would love to use the unsaturated v6 pallete, in particular, which was posted before me! EDIT: also was wondering if there's a way to decrease the "shimmering" effect when scrolling horizontally at non-integer scales? Only reason I ask is because the AVS seems to do a slightly better job at this ...

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

Yep, he also wrote that hidef Nes wouldn't be affected, so maybe an upgraded kit is possible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxTYcfILeuw&lc=z12pvra4apb1cjo1q22qivhj5u35czwrb04.1472926544030191 I didn't mention that part cause he was talking about software updates. I highly doubt we'll see a hardwa...

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

For all those asking about the 5x height option it sounds like the new Analague Nt mini (also designed by kevtris) might support it. In their technical specs (https://support.analogue.co/hc/en-us/articles/224996908-Analogue-Nt-mini-vs-Analogue-Nt) they say: "Pixel Formatting: 5x, 4.5x, 4x at 1080p ...

Re: Memory map and 2A03 register map

Can we move this to hardware? I didn't even know this thread existed until memblers told me at work yesterday. I tried to find the thread but couldn't because it was here. I had to ask where the thread was to be able to find it. thanx.

Re: Gameking

Oh, nice work! Now how long until we get Game King III emulation? :D Send me one and I'll do it. I looked for one for awhile on ebay but one never showed up. I suspect if it did the cost would've been $300+. I had this problem with the Gamate and someone graciously donated two to me with some games...

Re: Gameking

A bit of a necrobump, but I figured I'd post this here. I have completed reverse engineering of the Game King, and have posted my findings here:

Also, I have a video of it running on my FPGA:

Re: Coleco Chameleon

Then why doesn't kev just use the Hi-Def NES money to make an actually decent ARM+FPGA console? Because it takes A LOT more than "hi-def NES money" to do it. I'm still in the red on that project, by the way. It will be quite awhile until I have any net profit at all, and even more time until I make...

Will you at least release it ? :D
I made 100 already but they are gone, working on another run though. going to announce soon.

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

yes i'm asking kevtris if he would consider doing a redesign with 5x scaling as an option No I am not going to do a redesign because the price would increase too much and I'm kinda sick of the project :-) Adding a palette or two is easy and I can do that, but I am not sure when I will do it. re: la...

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

kevtris when avs comes out could you find out it's color palette and add it as a choice and could you maybe look into adding 5x scaling as well. If someone can tell me the RGB values of its palette, I can add it. Without knowing the RGB values I can't add it. 5x scaling is not possible without a ma...

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

The NES Top Loader had the benefit of using the same revision NES CPU and PPU as most of the Front Loaders, the G revision. However, the Analogue Nt uses chips culled from Famicoms, which use all sorts of revisions, A, B, C, D & E and even no revision. Things changed quite a bit during these revisi...

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

Im not sure why they didnt try to test every game, or do a beta and have people test ever game. Unless thats what they're doing now? Weeelll, I would've needed a complete collection of games. Let me pull that out of my hip pocket... oh wait. Seriously though, I only have a few handfuls of games to ...

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

I don't know anything about the save state mapper, but I assume it cannot load 512K PRG ROMs, because it uses some of the RAM for the savestate part? I could be totally wrong but that's just my first guess. 512KB PRG ROMs should work (IIRC I've tested Mega Man 6). Might be some sort of an address s...

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

Weeeelllll, here it is. I received the everdrive yesterday and loaded V12? firmware onto it (the version before the "fix" for the HDMI adapter). Thinking this was going to be a "worst case" test. It worked perfectly with the games I tested- I tested about 6 or 7 different mappers and all is well. Re...
