Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

Small update: That zelda hack is doing the identical corrupted thing on my totally stock front loader without the adapter installed, so the adapter is doing the same thing. That makes me feel better. I am going to make a cart of it for testing to see if it does it there as well.

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

OK the update's almost ready. I have done all I can do. I will do some testing and then probably release the .nes file in a few days. The changes are as follows: ;Version 2.0 updates: ; ;* Fixed up timing so that FDS, MMC5, and Everdrive should be fixed. ; ;* Fixed scanline modes not being saved. ; ...

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

It doesn't get any more legit than Retrogate. Krikzz runs it, and ships the Everdrives straight from Ukraine. It will probably take longer than if it was shipped from within the US, but it's perfectly safe. Gotcha. I just bought one so I guess I'll have it in a few weeks. Though I will probably rel...

Ah I dunno. If those are legit I will buy one. I thought only stoneagegamer had legit ones in the US? I am most likely wrong on that, if so I will buy one from them

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

Update: Well I fixed the timing issue, so now FDS works great, and CV3/MMC5 works as well. I suspect everdrive is fixed, but I can't test it. I tried to buy an ED but I'm not going to pay over $200 for one; there's only the expensive "special" ones left in stock at stoneagegamer.com which seems to b...

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

Been working at the problem games on the adapter. I have received a bunch of carts from people (thanks!) and here's what I figured out: Megaman 3 - works fine on the adapter with an NES and analogue nt Megaman 5 - same gun.smoke seems to work fine on both systems, and I can get into the menu on the ...

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

I don't support CEC because I didn't have the IOs left on the FPGA and it would've increased the BOM cost.

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

Figured I'd give everyone a heads up on what's going on. Working on the firmware update for the HiDef NES. These are the things I want to add: * 4x 1080p mode (Might work on PAL, maybe not) * 5x 1080p mode (NTSC only. PAL not possible) I have been reading about people wanting to turn the TV off with...

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

Jason et Kevin, about Castlevania 3 not working with HDN, here's a thing I saw on NeoGaf forum about the NT. It seems it works when using a game genie. "I cleaned Rockman and it no longer is doing that same issue. But for Castlevania 3 I can't get it to run unless I use a Game Genie. Its the weirde...

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

We're getting ready to sell the boards. Making all the install instructions/videos and stuff right now. Going to be a week or two yet simply because of all the work that has to be done to ensure people can install these without problems. I also have to buy some of the things like ribbon cables, foam...

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

The problem is the NESRGB has to be a "bus master" for the PPU, and the HiDefNES has to be a "bus master" too. You can't just "chain" the two adapters together. The HDN (HiDefNES) must have full control of the PPU, including generation of the clock for it to work at all. The analog outputs wouldn't ...

Re: Hi-Def NES HDMI Adapter for the NES

Well, Jason (gametech) came over tonight and we did a bunch of everdrive testing. Turns out his everdrive works fine on my HDMI modified toploader. We ran SMB3, Zelda, Double Dragon, Faxanadu, SMB, SMB2, and a bunch of other games and all of them seem to work fine. Overall I tested NROM, UNROM, MMC1...

Re: Anyone Interested in a Combined NES + Gameboy Cart?

re: how to get systems to run at the proper speed, I have the PLLs on the FPGA and my own oscillator. If I wish to frame-lock I can also do a more complex method with a phase accumulator to generate the system clock and dial in any clock speed desired.

I will not use the NES' clock to time anything.

Re: NES 2.0 submappers

Guess I should weigh in. I created the whole submapper thing to eliminate the need for CRC checking and other hacks on the existing roms. There is no way in the world to ever come up with a perfect "100% all inclusive" format that could account for anything ever new that showed up. I attempted to ma...
