I discovered another game has the same anomaly: Nintendo's mahjong And the FDS was launched with 7 games including Zelda (v1.0 of course) and.... Mahjong!! So the only two games with that anomaly are among the 7 initial releases Obviously an error form the devs who forgot to use the BCD "year of sho...

FDS Zelda no Densetsu v1.0

A friend of mine dumped recently Zelda no Densetsu - The Hyrule Fantasy (v1.0) Only the version 1.1 was dumped so far, and he specially bought 10 disks of Zelda no Densetsu to be sure he would get some 1.0 in the pack. As usual I checked in hexed but I found something rather strange the build date i...

Thank you for your attention Sirs, I think he meant that maybe the disk wasn't formatted formatted of course, that's not the problem :D I read a while back that some FDS games lie in the file count (block 2 I believe) as a copy protect scheme. That's freaking crazy :x preserving NES software sure is...

Garbage data in FDS Sealed Disks?

Yet another time I got a redump with garbage data this time it's a redump of Ultraman Club - Chikyuu Dakkan Sakusen v1.0 the only known dump so far had an invalid header my redump has a valid header but after running a check it also has garbage data I am not 100% sure if the FDS disk was never used ...

It could be either 1 or 2, at the same time. If someone took a used FDS disk to their game shop and had the Disk Writer (or Game Hacker) put a new game on it, it could have overwritten their old game only up to the end of the new game's data. That would make #2 possible. If someone dumps a disk (in...

FDS : garbage data ?

I have found a new resource for FDS dumps A lot of the new dumps I got have what appears as "garbage data" For example that bio miracle dump attached below. The header is valid but it has that "garbage data" in two areas. If I may ask, my question is: 1.is that "garbage data" caused by a dumping sof...

Firstly thanks for the replies I am aware that by cleaning the saves, I probably won't get a ROM which match a sealed cart data. But as mentionned before that's the best we could get. I was just looking for help to figure out the meaning of the altered bytes in order to understand a bit better (hope...

As expected I'll have to hack every single rom with hexed. and remove saved data. I'm halfway done thro it. The set will be a bit cleaner but it won't replace dump of sealed carts. Several bytes will probably be wrong but that's the best I can do for now. Btw when possible I tried to use Nestopia to...

FDS Project

I'm intending to write a dat file for the Nintendo FDS system.
Unfortunately most FDS known dumps have an altered SRAM
Is there an utility to cleanse the SRAM (or better yet, to restore the original data before any save was done)

Thanks
