You can get a years hosting for $100 that will allow enough traffic for this site. Im sure they can scrape enough in donations for that. This is making the assumption that the reason is monetary, and since it's probably not (otherwise he would've made his reasons clear) I don't think it's worth try...

I have no idea, I just meant that it can't hurt to page through your PMs and back up anything you want to keep. Are you saying this isn't necessary because it's all being ported elsewhere?

Remember to back up your PMs, if necessary!

With the forum going away, it's easy to forget to check through your PMs and back up anything you might want to keep. I presume that any archive we eventually get will not maintain them in the interest of privacy.

Just a reminder. :)

Yeah, thanks a lot Koitsu! You provided a great resource and it's a tough pill to swallow that it's going away.

Just wanted to say I'm glad that tepples is on the job on this. An archive would be invaluable. When I was just starting out learning the NES I considered making topics for a number of questions, but I always searched the forum first, and 99% of the time found that the question had been asked before...

Glad I randomly decided to stop by, I visit pretty infrequently. Sad news, but as others have said it's not the end of the world. It's just that this place was such a haven for NES development for so many years...feels like home. I could always count on Nesdev to be here, talking about detailed tech...

I think the question should be defined differently, 'is there a reason for backtracking'. If it is not adds anything (or much) to gameplay, it is not needed. I disagree. On the other side, the question should be "is there a reason for not allowing backtracking ?". If the answer is no, then please i...

It starts out hard and then gets pretty easy actually after you learn a few spells and find a few life upgrades. The only place anyone should be grinding is on tektites at the main town across the ocean. You kill a few with fireballs, head into town for free healing and magic recharge, head back out...

It's one of those things where you ask yourself, given the choice of going backwards, do I really go backwards that often? Depends on the game, of course. A lot of Kirby's Adventure levels are quite linear and wouldn't suffer much from not being able to backtrack. In fact there are points in most le...

It depends on a lot of things. If it's a game like Adventure Island where the goal is to move forward at a breakneck pace, then it's no problem. It's not a problem in a scrolling space shooter, or otherwise auto-scrolling levels. If it's exactly like SMB, that might annoy some people, but if your ga...

I just grabbed it from an old topic I made ages ago, I'm not surprised it's full of errors. It's just to be silly. :P
