Judging by the first post it was open for two weeks back in November.

The dithered one isn't so bad, it actually kind of reminds me of GB games like Donkey Kong Land or Gameboy Camera. Maybe I just think it's good for nostalgic reasons, I don't know. Anyways, I think the right most animation looks pretty good, though I think it needs some more non-computed work. It w...

Looks like you get the best result by color reducing first and then resizing, unless Petruza did some other modifications. I did mine the opposite way and it's not as pretty. I like playing with Famitracker, but how useful is it for putting music into a game? I've seen tutorials for throwing together a quick program that just plays music for the chiptune sceners, but does it produce data efficient enough to use in a time critical environment? Or does its output not matter?

I know I essentially have no place talking here, being a lurker/newbie, but as a person who has done some pixel work before I wanted to comment on the large sprites vs. small sprites issue. It's true that individual pixels matter more on small sprites than on large ones, but this isn't necessarily a...

Awesome, from the man himself! sprite equ $200 or sprite=$200 will do. I'm not sure what you mean about checking the rest of the sources. I just realized, I was dazed and confused. Something I read put it as sprite: with the colon, and that immediately registered as a label. But obviously we're deal...

Converting NES101 tut to other assemblers such as ASM6

I guess this is specifically aimed at tokumaru since I know he uses and likes ASM6. From what I understand, CA65 is quite close to P65 and doesn't require much if any source modification for NES101. However, I really like what I see in ASM6, how simple and straightforward it is; seems like the perfe...

Oh yeah, I remember that. I think that's actually a really good idea if you want to make enemies large. I was thinking of something similar for the boss of my sidescroller, where the boss would just be huge, and be a part of the background. It's a good alternative sometimes, but it's very very limi...

Heh, I saw that before, and I wondered if that was a homebrew thing or something from the Master System games! If this was something I actually planned on doing in a game, I'd definitely just do it for the main character only, and possibly for bosses. What about the other method, sprites on backgrou...

Sprites with more than 3 colors

I had read at one point that the Megaman games used some tricks to squeeze out better graphics than should've been possible, in particular to achieve sprites with more colors. No matter how much I search the internet I can't find any info on this. It's possible I read it wrong and they were referrin...
