Re: Zapper hit detection

I should have thanked you the first time :) I had a look at it, and I don't really see what I'm doing differently from you (besides the obvious, what with the timed code and all). I have to say, I'm very impressed by the accuracy you've achieved. However, copy+pasting someone else's code wholesale k...

Re: Zapper hit detection

Ah, so it's not the frequency of the light, but the frequency at which it flashes. Got it. Well, I made a screen where the upper quarter is in all white and the rest in all black, save for a message that is printed differently depending on whether you are aiming at white or not, and depending on whe...

Re: Zapper hit detection

So... if I point the thing at the sun, it should register a hit, right? Why does a lightbulb, or anything that shines a white light, not do the trick? It doesn't react to just ANY visible light, does it? (I should clarify I do know about the blank screens drawn before and after the frames that draw ...

Zapper hit detection

In my game, I'm only going to have 1 target at any time, so I just want to know whether I found a hit or not. If I've understood this correctly, it's not enough to just read from the zapper - it needs to be done while the frame is being drawn, because the light sensor turns off after a very short ti...

Re: Accessing data or "strings" in data segment

Trying to find an answer for 15 minutes, ask question, then find answer within seconds by myself. Why does this always happen? Anyway, solution was to set ROM: start = $C000, size = $4000, type = ro, file = %O, fill=yes, fillval=$00; Another solution is to use start address $8000, like you u...

Re: Accessing data or "strings" in data segment

Haha. I knew about rubber duck debugging, actually, but I never thought about prayer as an alternative to it. I should totes get myself a rubber duck.

A live owl would be more useful though. We could have staring contests while waiting for my code to compile and stuff.

Anyway, one solution was to set

Code: Select all

ROM:    start = $C000, size = $4000, type = ro, file = %O, fill=yes, fillval=$00;

Re: Accessing data or "strings" in data segment

I had to rename a few segments in my source file, but it seems to work with your suggested config file now. Not sure if I gained anything by making the switch, but well.

My (old) syntax highlighter is also there.
I dunno if it's just on my end, but that looks pretty awful, haha. What's with the extra line spacing?
EDIT: Oh, it was because of the differently sized fonts. Fixed.

Re: Accessing data or "strings" in data segment

You shouldn't use those, use something like: http://wiki.nesdev.com/w/index.php/User:Banshaku/CA65_Constants Dat file, wow. Nice! I would set target to none as well. It is supposed to default to none, but unless you want to use the CC65 predefined nes target setup do not use -t nes . I assume you g...
