Is there a way to get a list of all the articles of the wiki, instead of having to find a link to one?

Yes that would be great.
We should have a ROMs list on our wiki with as much relevant info for emulator developers as possible.
A good start is http://tuxnes.sourceforge.net/nesmapper.txt

Bregalad wrote:Yes. The only way to display those color is to use forced VBlank and point at them with $2006.
Please explain further.
Colors? you mean use them as actual palette indexes?

Are unusued bytes of palettes readable & writable?

I've read that unused bytes of the palettes in VRAM, I.E. $3F04, $3F08, $3F0C and their mirrors, are general purpose 6bit registers. So, they are just 6bit memory positions that can be read and written through $2006 / $2007 ? Does anyone recall debugging / disassembling a game that used those regist...

Re: PPU render timing basic questions

Disch wrote:$2003, $2004, $2007 are all offlimits during rendering
All other $200x regs can be accessed at any time.
And what about $4014 AKA Sprite DMA?
I know it's too slow to do mid-scanline effects, but can this be used during render, for example, to show more than 64 sprites?

Like NESdev but for commodore 64, is there any?

Is there a Commodore 64 emulator developer forum like NesDev is for NES?
It could be of commodore computers in general...
Moreover, what other emulation development forums do you know, for other platforms, which are active and full of information like nesdev?

Is there a game list with its characteristics? mapper, etc..

Such a list would be a good tool for testing emulators in development. It would ideally include information like: - Mapper number - Name table mirroring used - Type of scrolling used ( during vblank, mid-frame, mid-scanline ) / Split screen - Sprite size - Bank size (in the case of mappers that admi...

If only 1 write to $2006, what address to use for $2007 ?

If only one write was made to $2006, thus specifying only its high byte, what address should be used when reading or writing to $2007? 1) The address low byte should be 0 2a) The address low byte should be all screwed up from last render which used it for internal tasks 2b) The address low byte rema...

What should write-only registers return when read? ($200x)

Registers like $2000, $2001, $2003, $2005, $2006, $4014, are write-only. What should those registers return when there's an attempt to read them? I guess for $2000 and $2001, the flags that are written to those registers, could also be returned when read. For $2003, 2005 and $2006 maybe the last val...

Nope, I had placed an order for the old edition for 20 USD. They told me they didn't have stock. Now it's at 100+ USD I tried to buy it on its editor page from which I took the screenshot. I placed the order and 10 minutes later they cancelled it because it was sold out. I'm waiting now for the new ...

What percentage of original* games ( leaving out homebrew and demos ) would you say used some graphic technique that would require accurate timing, other than a regular sprite-0 hit scrolling to make a horizontal split-screen? I don't know if I'm being clear about this, I want to know how much mid-s...

Which ones are the most accurate emulators available?
I always took FCEUXD SP as reference cause it has a good debugger, but I really don't know.
