Re: [Starting with repro] Is this right? And where to

Is it correct that I need the same board as the 'original' game? And that if its just 32K I dont need to do any rewirering. Like: 1943 128k PRG / 0k CHR H UNROM (2) If i have a donor cart like: Ducktales 128k PRG / 0k CHR V UNROM (2) All i need to do is change the EPROM, right? Hey Marcel, I'm a li...

In fact I have! I've been keeping a set of development notes. <Opening it now> 44 pages long currently! Obviously I haven't made an entry into it for a couple months as the dev phase has mostly been done since late Nov/early Dec. I'd also have to re-work it quite a bit as it's more of a "stream of c...

Thanks Mottzilla! To be honest, though, the game wouldn't even exist if it weren't for this website and people like yourself who take time to figure out the technical aspects of the NES and share that info with others. So thanks to all of you for that. Here's hoping I can finally pass along some mor...

Thwaite runs most logic at 60 or 50 Hz. But collision detection is effectively 30 or 25 Hz, as it tests half the explosions against all the missiles. So is the smoke, as only half the particles are drawn in each frame. Some tasks are run at only 10 Hz (once every 6 frames on NTSC or 5 on PAL), runn...

Re: How do you distribute your frame time?

How many cycles takes in your program each section? -Game logic -Scrolling -Apply objects physics -Drawing objects (to shadow oam) -Object-Object collision -Object-Background collision I think I will run out of time if there's more than 6-7 objects in a frame, only drawing the metasprites (with H o...

Most likely reason for your problem is that you're toggling (0->1->0) the top bit of $2000 (the NMI enable bit) somewhere in your NMI handler. You can read more about this here: http://wiki.nesdev.com/w/index.php/NMI Easiest way to fix it is to read from $2002 at the beginning of the vblank to clea...

Okay so this thread's timely. I was just about to post a thread asking about an unnerving problem I discovered last night on my project where NMI is seemingly interrupting itself! I've produced two log files from Nintendulator, both showing an instance where the NMI interrupt seems to happen at scan...

Yikes, I was afraid of that. Was just playing around with a test and got a sample to play stored at $E000. Learned something for the future if nothing else. Thanks for the answer, thefox.

DMC Sample Addressing

Is it possible to place a sample somewhere between $8000-$BFFF? Everything I'm reading seems to suggest that when you write to $4012, it only starts at $C000 and you increment by 64bytes for each hex value you add (ex. $00=$C000, $01=$C040, $02=$C080, etc.) Is there some method for writing to $4012 ...
