Re: Competition Award Logos & Categories

These look great as well as idea is neat. My first concern when I looked at the mockup was if there is enough free space for it in PPU, but after a quick look into PPU Viewer in FCEU as well the fact that awards are 1 bit graphics, it should not be a problem. All in all, if there isn't much trouble ...

Re: JAMG Just Another Maze Game, Pac-Style, Cybroitek and mo

I know this is work in progress but Studnia has an excellent, climatic theme and I like expressive animations. Adding an ability to jump would be nice to see, but I assume that is a part of the games charm. I like animated coins...but animation seems incomplete? Overall, I can see a good potential i...

Re: Nova the Squirrel

Excellent. I have been watching this topic for long time, good to see its finished :) I've played First and Second world I noted some good level design and overall relaxing vibe of the game. I really enjoyed puzzles in Second world, they scale very nicely in difficulty. I do have very minor complain...

Re: Nim & Nom - Finished!

If you don't mind me asking, at what level did the difficulty become too much? This one: NimNom.png In some attempts, I managed to eat all flowers before any of them regrow...but then I run out of time before I can eat remaining two enemies. Btw, I noticed there is a bit of a lag after you jump, ch...

Re: Nim & Nom - Finished!

Great entry. Good to hear it will join the Action53 :D
If you finished this before the compo deadline, we would have quite a serious contender.
To be honest, I cant beat the game, I tried and failed. The later ice levels are too much for me.

I enjoyed Nuts & Milk skin, very nice to have this. Now all we need is remixed music :D
Do you plan to make more of these?

Re: Progress Thread - Jammin Honey

@dougeff
Thanks for update.
I did beat the game with no problems(same game genie still works).
One thing I've noticed during this playthrough was that bee never spawns near X players position when Im close to top of screen. Was this coded that was or was I just lucky?

Re: Progress Thread - Project Blue

Right, I forgot to give my overall impression of the game. I just re-played it and some of my thoughts: -The controls an physics are not what I like. It doesn't mean its "bad", I just prefer more direct control over player. I get used to it after a while...but I still had problems with landing on sm...

Re: Progress Thread - Project Blue

That project blue screen looks extremely good. Looks more of an early 16bit game rather than NES. Is this using NTSC palette? Did you try making a PAL palette? (or rather: will you consider redoing some palettes for PAL region?) 2nd picture is very neat. Is this going to be a game? I think I remembe...

For long time, I wanted to revise my wave code and you finally gave me a valid reason :D https://github.com/denine/wavyscreendemo-NES If you are interested in playing around with it, you'll need ASM6. If you just want to to see wavecode, it is in wavecode.asm I've included ROM as well for preview. Y...

Re: how do i go about performing bg tricks with hardware wri

oh, Tokumaru is right, I dont know why I said $2007, haha. When hblank starts, the ppu updates t horizontal component of scrolling. In FamiDepth, I change x position by writing to $2005 every scanline afterwhich I wait for a scanline to pass. During cycle burning, I read $2002 to reset the write tog...

Re: how do i go about performing bg tricks with hardware wri

These effect usualy involve writting to PPU adresses, $2006 and $2007. Sometimes you might want to also use $2005. In my game, FamiDepth , wavy title screen is achieved by timed writes during hblank to said registers. Keep in mind this kind of effects tend to hog the cpu....so it isn't used during g...

Re: Hypothetical: Your Dream IP to license

FrankenGraphics: why? They failed to make the concept a great game.
You can take same concept and make it better than they did.
