Re: Cookie Clicker

The visuals are sweet! I downloaded ROM image from your website...you can't get past title screen, can you? I wouldn't expect people with no understanding of computer architecture to get them. 90% of artists I tried to work with on NES art was not patient enough to limit graphics and just demanded m...

Re: "Function" game- progress thread.

Thanks! I appreciate your opinion. Yes, you are right. I'll change main loop to "MAIN" "LAST M" stands for Last Main. This new command can only be used in SUB function. It will call the last MAIN command that was used before calling SUB.For example: Main:Right, Sub, Down, Sub Sub:Last M,Last M,Last ...

It is in testing phase? That's great, the concept is unlike anything I played, looking forward it.

Re: "Function" game- progress thread.

Thanks for the links. These games seem to have familiar core concept to what I have in mind. I just don't agree with calling the subroutines being called VBL and IRQ, because VBL doesn't run during VBlank and IRQ isn't interrupting anything, it's simply called. I think it would be better to just cal...

"Function" game- progress thread.

Better late, than never-I decided to enter the nesdev compo. And since wanted "more open development/progress report type of contest" , I decided to start a progress thread for a game I come up with. Also, forgive me for my bad english, I'm not native speaker. Ok, let's start this thing with a game'...

Re: Early Demo - Auge

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not entering the competition. You can still submit Auge under the "Free for all" category as demos\unfinished work is accepted in there. That way more people may discover the game. Auge actually gives me a kick to create something myself again (I was in a something I ca...

Despite my dislike for horizontal shooters, I really like it!
thefox-that's weird, ROM works perfectly in my FCEU and Nestopia.

Re: creating a championship cart...

The whole idea of a championship cart is quite neat. How can I create a game like NWC, CAMPUS CHALLANGE? If you have source code of the games, then you can use a "simple" mapper to switch between games. You can also use a multicart mapper . I have a game that maybe could fit in, I'll PM you about it...

Re: Help with Treasure Island Dizzy(Quattro Adventure, camer

This thread reminds me to upload some of my old hacks to romhacking.net... I also did a such hack for both Treasure Island Dizzy and Go Dizzy Go. My hack additionally gets rid of game selection menu, so game starts with codemasters logo. Get it here Apply it to "Quattro Adventure (U).nes". It was te...

Re: Questions about NES Graphics Limitations

Were mid-screen palette changes done in many commercial games? For example, the following games changes palette for status bar: -Wizard & Warriors. -Fantastic Adventurers of Dizzy. -Dizzy the adventurer. -Tom and Jerry. And I'm sure there's are other games that do that too. As for SMB3- It do not d...

Re: Torches, Darkness, and Backgrounds?

Linus Spacehead's Cosmis Crusade also do this, but the circle is smaller than examples above. Also, the operation in Linus is pretty simple-there's two palettes, one black and one with blue shades. the game updates attributes of name tables and uses sprites to smooth circle appearance(which is a te...

Re: "5 Awesome NES Facts" Video from Vsauce3

Correct me If I'm wrong (and I probably am), but isn't Kirby's adventure the largest NES game? And it's only 768kb. Yeah, there was Metal Slander Glory with 1MB, but it was released only for famicom, so it doesn't count, right? Well, one of the strips in the video said "Largest NES game". Even if he...

Re: Two impossible effects in Mother?

I heard that Earthbound does a very nasty copy protection ckeck right before the last boss and deletes all save data if it founds out it's a pirated copy. That's correct, Earthound do that. Could it be the cause of this awkward pause? If you reffer to what sonder wrote, then you confuse games. Eath...

@rainwarrior
It plays like regular Super Mario Bros, nothing strange about it. I'm not sure about what JAMZ is.
Anyway, it looks like there was cost saving purposes...thanks :)
