I once tried the NROM conversion of "Tennis" (no link here for obvious reasons) as my base for building stuff. The image I acquired had no header but FDSExplorer could open it with correct file info. listing. Both HEX listing and disassembled codes of the files seemed to have truncated after one or ...

I tried to use it, but there're some quirks in it that prevented me from doing so. 1. If the filenames of a disk have some non-ASCII characters it failed to extract them (and it even crashed for me occasionally). Since the filenames aren't relevant to anything I think the tool should just let the us...

Hmmm, I've tried using a comma as a separation and it worked for me. One thing to notice is that you have to add at least 1 or 2 space before calling the macro for it to work, i.e.: MyMacro #$FF, $1234 Also, I'm not sure, but I think it may be a requirement that you have to define the macro before c...

Hmmm. Actually it doesn't seem to be that simple (unless it is really a GD image, in which case the data are really just dumped ROM images). I've tried replacing the PRG and CHR files in a NROM conversion (Tennis) and it didn't really work, so unless I've done something wrong, I think the developers...

Hmmm I've actually not used macros in NESASM before (in fact I used it for only 4 days, before moving to ASM6), so I'm not sure about it. Maybe you need to separate the parameters with a comma, like ordinary operands?

Code: Select all

MyMacro #$FF, $1234

There is a section called 'macros' in usage.txt . If you do not have this file in your package for whatever reasons, look here.

As I suppose a simple Hello World ROM could be just a small NROM, I think it's probably easier to make it into a real FDS game (there're a number of NROM games officially re-released as FDS this way) rather than a GD disk image of a cart. I've never tried, but I think it's just along the line of cha...

I'm not sure about it, but for this matter isn't it easier to do it the other way round, i.e. hack SMB 2J (I think there is a cart hack for this game if the OP wants to play it on the real system) instead to take the level data of the first game? You can even hack back the colours and the graphics o...

I have been lurking around these forums for a while already, but I just registered for an account to thank Shiru for this great tool. In a community that I am part of, there is a small competition going on recently, that you take a classic adventure game, make sprites and mock-up screens of it, as t...
