Re: NES vs. SNES screen resolution

Also, more/larger on-screen sprites at the same time.

Re: Fun with strange bugs!

Yeah. I think missing #s is a very common mistake in 6502 assembly in general, and it's sometimes hard to spot, in which in some cases the stuff still work most of the time(such as what I once encountered in my short demo ). Depending on systems, forgetting to clear/initialise RAM beforehand can gen...

Re: YY-CHR - what does it say in this dropdown menu?

(Correct me if I am wrong) It's roughly: Default display Display in FC/NES x 8 arrangement Display in FC/NES x 16 arrangement Display in 16 x 32 arrangement Display in 32 x 32 arrangement(A) Display in 32 x 32 arrangement(B) Display in 16 x 24 arrangement Display in 32 x 48 arrangement Display in ve...

Re: Change my username?

Actually I myself don't like animated avatars too, at least those with huge file size(usually created from FMVs) and are too distracting. Mine was actually originally meant to be an (in)joke in a certain community, and I made the image so it seemed to be static at first (there is a relatively long d...

Re: Sprites: SNES vs Genesis

Honestly, being able to display so many simultaneous colours at once, the PCE missed an opportunity by not using a larger master palette, such as a 4096 one, which was used by a number of arcade boards. As Tetgannon (the video colour encoder) is a separate chip from 7UP (the video display chip), the...

Re: Famicom vs NES development?

In that if I take a US NES game I can't use it on a Famicom But but but... actually you can. Though this is not officially supported, you can do this by using only official products , that if you ply open certain carts of 1st party NES games, you get a game cart that's directly playable on a Famico...

Re: Nintendo continues crusade against ROM sites

On the other hand, though, there are lots of screenshots here (such as "My emulator fails to render SMB/DK properly. It now looks like this."), that could be troublesome to the same extend, even though there isn't a single intention of promoting copyright infringement, and I don't think they should ...

Re: Battlekid localized for japanese market

@Gilbert shape of the cartridge Quite probably, as I think BK doesn't use a very complicated mapper, but anyway they just say in their disclaimer it may not work without stating what may be the problem (and, hopefully their products aren't poorly made that may fry the original consoles ). Speaking ...

Re: Battlekid localized for japanese market

I don't know about them, but skimming through the article, they made a disclaimer: This is an original product from Columbus Circle. As it's different from the official carts, it may not work properly on some of the consoles. It is confirmed to work on Famiclones produced by Columbus Circles. So the...

Re: The official soda of NESdev...

7-up No, because this was already the name of the graphics chip of the PC-Engine, which was more or less official as the chip was referred as such in the official development kit, and the reason for choosing that name was that the chip displayed SPRITEs on screen but the people were against anythin...

Re: Family BASIC Lessons

Don't know, as I never used VirtuaNES myself (though it's EXTREMELY popular in Japan, especially for those using Family Basic). There doesn't seem to have any way to reassign keys either. This makes me wonder, in that case, haven't laptop users complained already, because of its popularity? Maybe it...
