Re: Flappy Bird port

OK. I never played the official version so it might be off. I based it loosely on what felt like http://flapmmo.com/ but made it look more like the original.

Here is a slightly tweaked version. I don't want to make it too easy :) :

Re: Flappy Bird port

Nah, it's supposed to be hard :) I might do an "easy version" for the not so hardcore flappy players.

Flappy Bird port

I Had some spare time and wanted a break from my bigger project. So here is my NES port of Flappy Bird: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wts3twej93bh7do/flappy.nes?dl=1 Yeah, no fancy parallax bg, I know. :) But it plays OK I think, and looks good anyway. I hope the dropbox link works. Please let me know i...

Re: EMUya - A emulation store for homebrew NES development

It's too bad the Ouya has controller lag like crazy. It doesn't only affect EMUya, but any fast paced game. At least for me. :(

Re: Getting extra VBLANK

Sprite overflow flag is really really easy to trigger unintentionally, especially with the PPU's bugs, so just never use it. I have seen this in lots of places. But I am using it for a project now to know when to flicker. It seems to work just fine, and it saves a lot of CPU since I don't have to m...

Re: More NES games being "remastered"

It's not like the originals disappear just because there is a remake. I have nothing against them, and some remakes have been great. A lot of games were made with a vision that they didn't really capture on the hardware of the day. Two of my favorite remakes are Tomb Raider Anniversary and Shadow of...

Re: Game design Sins

I guess part of the problem with moving platforms that instantly change direction is inertia. NTSC NES games run at about 60 fps, and any platformer with an adult male hero shown as about 32px tall represents 1 m as 16px. So if a platform's velocity changes from +1 px/frame to -1 px/frame within th...
