Re: Castlevania - Dark Version

The makers of Castlevania 3 / akumajou densetsu already kinds of did this... For what Castlevania 3 lacked in sound expansion, it certainly made up for it in the palette changes they made. Nothing can go back and make the previous games have a better look without re-doing the tiles to look more like...

Looking good, nice use of tiles. Can you post the tile set too?

I'd extend the top and bottom as much as I could if I were you

Re: Most accurate chiptune emulation players avaliable

With GameBoy and Famicom, I'd 100% recommend getting the hardware and music generating carts like LSDJ and recording directly off the device.

Re: Twin Famicom Power Supply

You would be better off getting a legitimate power supply made by sharp. They also made a generic version of the power brick to the same specs that doesn't say twin famicom on it. You often see them on eBay. The power supply is kinda unique & I'd be wary of trying to use an alternative. The disk sys...

Pirate Pop Plus (my new retro game on 3DS, WiiU & steam)

I released a new game! Thanks for all the advice from here, I released a game that is deeply inspired by 8-bit, a kind of love letter to the past. http://dl.dropbox.com/s/6021gpsxfoitedf/twitter-ppp.gif It's on New Nintendo 3DS, and cross buy to Wii U. Also on Steam, and still part of this months (N...

Re: GBjam Pirate Pop

Cool! Will this be ported to Gameboy, or is it a modern platform only game? I'm not sure I have the time or patience, but with some reduction and a port to C it probably could be. For now, it lives on desktop computers. Oh and arcades... http://dadako.com/about/images/11892270_878902155535897_58284...

Re: GBjam Pirate Pop

I personally can't see this being ported to the Gameboy. There's only so many sprites allowed on the real thing, after all. How is Unity C# "authentic"? to quote myself It's as authentic as I felt it should be ;) Some of the entries are in full 3D, you'd need a GPU hanging out of your GB... GBjam i...

Re: Opinions on my NES style game

And little demos like these are often disheartening because no NES game could ever look that slick, not then due to technological constraints (cartridge memory, infantile memory switching hardware), and certainly not now because, well, assembly is admittedly a pain in the ass. It might have a few t...

Re: Opinions on my NES style game

Yeah it must be bank switching hell, but point stands that it looks like something the NES shouldn't be able to do at all, yet we don't go around treating that like the minimum bar for a NES game. Come on, Cosmic Epsilon is a much more extreme case than slopes. The 3D effect is achieved with a fair...
