Re: Starting a YouTube channel: where should I start?

You won't get any money by doing that. YT has been making it harder for years now, and most folks doing it fulltime still aren't making anything or just a pittance. It's the rough reality that to earn anything now you need to show tits and do something interesting. IOW, you should only spend what ti...

Re: How do you publish an NES ROM?

It's a lot of work, so naturally if somebody did it they'd want return on investment. I'm only aware of ggvm.

Re: How do you publish an NES ROM?

For Steam specifically, you can use GPL emulators for free as long as you comply with the license. Ie share the emulator's source including all modifications, and if the particular emulator is GPLv3, no tivoization (not enabling the extreme DRM levels steam allows).

Re: Best way to make sprites flicker or flash

Just use a slow blink for the entire rectangle. 0.5s or 1s per state.
edit: if the box is so big it'd hit sprite-per-line limits, I would make it a sparse box.

Re: Nin. Switch audio buzzes when docked - can i make a ground loop isolator?

There's an easy way to test ground hum problems. Use some wire to connect the device's ground to your house's, see if it affects the hum. Most exposed large metal surfaces are a device's ground.

Re: N64 game jam

Prize pool has now increased to $887.73, rules require open source code for the entry, but allow using Nintendo's SDK and microcode. libdragon is an open source lib, allowing legal 2d development (sw or accel). Nintendo's SDK would allow 3d games, but using it is naturally illegal. They likely won't...

Aand that's where we come into the higan "why is there a separate directory and configs for every rom" thing, vs other emulators hardcoding such roms.

Perhaps that's the programmer's view. Both disabled = all pixels shown. Not particularly relevant to programmers how it's wired in hw.

P*: Dynamically calculated jumps, or simply as a quicker version of "lda; pha; lda; pha".
Stack addressing is extremely useful, C-like even. But instead of putting a long description here, I direct you to the book "Programming the 65816". A PDF is easily findable.

Re: Design guidance for 3D Engine on SuperFX

Usually such carts are made by sacrificing an existing game in a satanic ritual. That's how you got to play with a real SA-1, MMC5, MMC3 or MMC1 before anybody had repro chips.
