Re: Rem Demo

Unlike PAL60, NTSC50 is not a standard and almost no TV can display it properly.

Re: Nova the Squirrel 2 (WIP)

For a long time now (1+ years) imgur has done something weird with subresources, no longer directly linking them. Kinda what imageshack used to do with the indirect requests getting a black bar overlaid with the image resolution. If I go directly to an i.imgur address, instead of loading the image i...

Re: Rem Demo

If you want shadow casters, color math would still work and look better. You no longer need N versions of every bg tile, merely N grey level tiles for the color layer. Ie you no longer edit the main tile layer, you edit the color/"shadow" layer. The next step to improve looks, without calculating sh...

Re: Rem Demo

Umm, from those gifs it looks like you're bruteforcing something on the cpu that you should be using color math for. Instead of having several versions of tiles you could have a smooth, per-pixel fade out circle.

Re: Scrolling hum bar when using GBA Flash carts on NDS Lite

I don't see any top-to-bottom or bottom-to-top hums, but looking at the hearts I see waves going from right to left and left to right (the video is rotated, but I mean the coords as with the image proper). They kinda look like camera artifacts too, not sure if they're actually on the screen. It's po...

Re: Looking for frank feedback on my first pixel art

Plus the floor still pokes eyes, color changes do not help that.

Re: Atari 2600 Miniature Golf

Sidetrack: engaged. Super Scope still needs a CRT and eats batteries, plus it wasn't very ergonomic. We (MegaCat) considered making adapters for NES zappers, since the Hyperkin gun was supposed to work with LCDs. That would enable zapping on a SNES, on LCDs, without batteries, but with the same blin...

It's visually very noisy, distracting, and hard on the eyes.

Re: Strategies for implementing macro functionality in assemblers

You *can* use the cpp or m4 preprocessors if you don't feel like reimplementing #define.

Re: KickC Optimizing C-Compiler now supports NES

KickC is not C, but its own C-like language. That's going to limit it.

VBCC seems to be massively buggy, and it's partially closed source. So from my POV neither of these new compilers is a viable option.

Plus that would limit it to emulators and sd2snes. No carts without mutilating existing games.

Yes, or use a more efficient music engine.
