Re: Removing/Disabling music but keeping sound effects

What is the most common method for implement sound effects in games? I understand it's per-game basis, but I'm asking in broad terms. Are the effects made by the DMC channel and the rest of the channels are used by the music? Or are the effects somehow mixed-in with the music by disabling a music ch...

Re: Nesdev magazine progress

What about an article about Super Bat Puncher? I believe that was the first big scale nes homebrew.

Re: Nintendo continues crusade against ROM sites

The hard part is getting enough people to want to buy an NES homebrew that it's worth the overhead of selling on the Switch. That part isn't actually Nintendo's fault. I don't think such a homebrew yet exists . How much is the overhead? (...though if I can eventually get enough sales going for Liza...

Re: Nintendo continues crusade against ROM sites

If Nintendo were forward thinking, they will promote homebrew. How hard could it be put a quality nes homebrew on the Switch and charge $9 for a digital download? I think we will eventually get there, once old console programming becomes more mainstream. Remember when Nintendo required developers to...

Re: Pixel Sketchbook

Only 2/4 background palettes needed for that last one! The one before it is 3. Cool work. Thank you! Yeah, with the early sketches, I'm trying to save one or two pallets for when I actually need to make this fit the game and narrative. But keeping the background dark and cool lets the bright warm s...

Re: bsnes-mcfly: The v073 and bsnes-classic killer

Sorry to go in a tangent, but I think this is good place to ask. Is one able to use bsnes for a Steam release, without a license, given than the modify source is distributed with the game? Keeping in mind that the game ROM or game source wouldn't be distributed alongside. I have seen conflicting ans...

Re: Rodas Cross: ARPG for the SNES

@Revenant @koitsu @tepples Thank you for the info. This is very helpful. @drludos Thank you for your time. I know not anyone is up to playing uncompleted games like this. The game is also quite challenging in its current state, with quite a lot of maps / content for a first demo. I managed to recrui...

Re: Rodas Cross: ARPG for the SNES

Ah! Thank you so much! I thought it had something to do with my initializing routine timing out or something similar. I'm surprised that bsnes don't emulate this at all. In fact, I had found a couple of things more that bsnes don't emulate. 1. Chaging color out of vblank causes color glitches. 2. Po...

Edit: Added Demo file to OP.

Let me know what you think!

Still got trouble uploading sound cleanly in real hardware. Just re-power the snes, until sound its clear.

Thank you.

Re: Rodas Cross: ARPG for the SNES

And here's how the old pattern would look like flipped horizontally, but that's still risking that somebody will sooner or later say that... If you look at it in a mirror while playing the title music backwards, then you will hear the game clearly saying "my sweet fecist!" The other two new pattern...
