I'll take a wild guess that at least Wai Wai World 2 uses it.

What we need is an SDL or Allegro port of Nintendulator so that future platforms, especially Free platforms, will be easier to support.

(And shouldn't this be in the NESemdev forum?)

I've made a really cheap, incomplete S3M copy of the SOD2 intro, using samples that I ripped using my custom NES sample ripper. If you really want it, get it.

Re: Akumajo Densetsu problem

So I bought what is supposedly a Nintendo-made machine with A/V output, which looks exactly like the toploading NES's, but with a Famicom cart slot instead of an NES one, and with no RF output. Was such a console ever officlally made? (The only name to appear on it is Nintendo's, but that doesn't m...

GBA has two sleep modes: "Halt" stops clocking the CPU core until an interrupt is triggered but leaves the audio, the PPU, and background DMAs running. It's commonly used to wait for the vblank. "Stop" stops clocking CPU, PPU, and audio until an interrupt is triggered. The Super NES has Halt as well...

Mappers with a lot of VRAM

Other than CPROM (Videomation mapper) and Squeedo, do any mappers have more than 8 KB of VRAM that can be bankswitched into PPU $0000-$0FFF or PPU $1000-$1FFF?

Slightly off the subject, but for Atari 2600 roms, some of which were mislabeled in Good2600, what I would do is download the ROM to a cuttlecart and try it out on a real 2600 and a real NTSC TV. If the screen rolled, it was PAL. Or see if it generates more or fewer than 292 scanlines after stabili...

Step 1: Try a box filter. Take the output of every APU cycle during each sample period (40-41 samples[1]) and average them before writing them to the buffer. This will improve the quality of your emulator's noise and high-pitched tones. There is a step 2 that results in further improvement, but to u...

I never released 0.950 - it's still in beta, and I just make the latest build of it available for people to use. In any event, I've made a small change to the download section on the aforementioned page to address this issue. All this would be easier if you would number each daily build. Following ...

The NES wasn't designed to run off batteries, and it was designed before governments started giving tax breaks for "green" computing.

Niиtendo did not disqualify games if sprites popped into view at the top of the screen. Play Super Mario Bros. 3 with an emulator set to show all 240 lines showing and then have Luigi approach the top of the screen (especially in world 3-9, where I first noticed it years ago).

Re: Stripped Down NES Flash Cart

Consider a cartridge with the following specs: 512KB of PRG-ROM 256KB of CHR-ROM 16KB of CHR-RAM 16KB of W-RAM (with battery) 4KB of V-RAM Why would you need both 16 KB of CHR RAM and 4 KB of VRAM (which I assume holds the map in 4-screen games)? Couldn't you just use one 16 KB chip and then assign...
