Ok, probably a silly question:
Where does the Nintendulator debug PPU-Dump (and, I guess, the CPU-Dump) put the dumped files? (I'm assuming it DOES create files, right? - or should I be expecting a new window?)

My test method: I put the Nintendulator on a thumb drive, in a separate directory to make sure it is "clean", along with the NES file to test with, and when I access the Debug Dump button, no new file(s) appear. Where should I be looking?

Parallel question (and maybe partial answer): In the normal operation of Nintendulator, are there times when a dump will NOT occur, even if I push the button? Maybe I am clicking at the wrong time? I've tried clicking Reset (which works) before Dump, Step (also works) before Dump, etc. Can't seen to get the correct combination to get a file.

A bit of help would be appreciated (any docs I can view?)

Thanks

Charlie

File -> Browse Save Files takes you there.

Do you mean the "File" menu option on Nintendulator? There is no "Browse" selection there.
(Umm, I'm using v0.970).

Yeah, you might want to try the "unstable" version.

Anyway, the dumps are at %appdata%\Nintendulator\Dumps (press Win+R to open the Run menu, then paste that in). If your version is too old, they might be elsewhere, though.

Yup, that was it! Thanks!

By the way, is this app still supported for changes/upgrades?

That depends on how you define "supported" - I still make occasional emulation improvements and bugfixes, though I typically don't add new features unless I have a really good reason to do so (i.e. it's something I want to add for myself).

Then I'll just make a comment about my own usage:

In the Video debug window, as you click on the Pattern window, the color scheme "walks" through the palette groups. I wouldn't mind if, when doing so, the actual palette being accessed at that time was somehow indicated in the palette window. Or even if the palette number, in text, was added to the details window, i.e.: "Palette: 2"
