Need some help using Famitile

Post by afyber » Sat Feb 20, 2021 5:42 pm

I very new to developing for the NES (like, been learning it for two days new), and I need some help with Famitile.
Specifically I can't figure out how to save (I'm using the graphical one "vfamitile.exe"), but a general readme would be nice since it doesn't come with one.

Not to side-step the question, but since you are new to NES development, I just wanted to ask: are you familiar with NESScreenTool (http://shiru.untergrund.net/software.shtml) or yy-chr (https://www.smwcentral.net/?p=section&a ... s&id=25244)? I think those tools are widely regarded as the defacto graphics editors for the NES.

I tried to get famitile up and running, but can't seem to find the correct version of SDL that it depends on.

The YY-CHR program has a useful option that allows you to edit nametables, it's called BG SET.
Select the desired tile in the upper window, and in the palette window, select the desired set of colors. Everything is very simple and clear.
