MMC1 stuff

I looked at kevtris's MMC1 info, and NESdevWiki's info, and I noticed that the two were different. Look:
kevtris wrote:MMC1C: Like the 1B, the WRAM can be disabled, however it defaults to disabled on powerup. The MMC1B can default to either state.
NESdevWiki wrote:MMC1C: WRAM protection is implemented and is enabled on power-on
Which one is incorrect? Or am I just retarded?

You mean the old nesdevwiki or the new nesdevwiki? If the wiki page doesn't cite its sources, then replace it with the best known version.

Another way of looking at it: If WRAM reads and writes are disabled, then WRAM protection from stray writes is enabled.

I think It means the same thing. Enabling WRAM protection I suppose would mean WRAM is disabled (write-protected).

edit: whoops, lost the race by a minute. heheh

There's a small difference: A useful "protection" mechanism would have three settings: no access, read-only, and read-write. I seem to remember that MMC5 has this, but MMC1 surely doesn't.

Oh, I didn't know they weren't the same thing. Oops. And you said there's an old and new NESdevWiki? Really? I never really looked, so I wouldn't know. Whichever one you linked me to in the "Bank Switching" topic in the newbie help center.

There's Memblers' old wiki and then there's Quietust's new wiki.
