Did this with Ufouria and it did well.
Here's both files for comparison.

The SNES is my favorite console, not only because it is an upgrade to the NES, but because it had some quality games as well (e.g. EarthBound and Kirby's Dream Land 3).

I've added an option in both the emulator and the NSF/NSFE player for anyone who wants to try it.

Wow, Uforia really sounds better with the bits reversed ! But for the sake of god, please stop including sound effects with the NSFs ! Who ever had that idea in the 1st place ?!

Gimmick I don' thear the difference. If I remember well there was a track playing on a short part of Stage 3 with very slippy ice and water instant death, and that track had the DPCM sounding very glitchy. I wonder how it'd sound with the bits reversed.

Now we can seriously ask, which games did not get the DPCM bits in reverse order ?

EDIT : Unfortunately, both FamiStudio and puNES refuses to run on my computer.

OK so I did some experiments :

Confirmed to sound better with actual Nintendo behaviour :
  • Super Mario Bros 3
  • Ninja Gaiden
  • Ninja Gaiden 2
  • Ninka Gaiden 3
  • Gradius II (voices)
  • Super C (orchestral hit)
  • Tiny Toon Adventures
  • Tiny Toon Adventures 2
  • Kirby's Adventure
  • Adventure of Lolo 3
  • Castlevania III - Dracula's Curse / Akumajo Densetsu (password music laugh effect)
Sounds the same regardless wether bit order is reversed or not
  • Doraemon - Giga Zombie No Gyakushuu
  • Earthbound ; Famicom Wars ; Fire Emblem (both games) - same samples for all those 4 games
Sounds terrible regardless of bit order (probably another encoding error ?)
  • Fester's Quest
  • Just Breed
Confirmed to sound better with bit order reversed
  • Journey to Sillius
  • Batman
  • Batman - Return of the Joker
  • Gimmick
  • Uforia - the Saga
  • Gremlins 2
  • Akumajo Densetsu (drums)
  • Castlevania 2 - Simon's Quest
  • Castlevania 3 - Dracula's Curse (drums)
  • Skate or Die
  • Gradius II (drums)
  • Contra
  • Super C (drums)

Sound samples of these would be nice.
